Looking for a really good filter vst so I can use it in dance music, I want to be able to filter it so much that you can bearly hear it sometimes so when I bring it back up it has maximum impact, my mate showed me on his setup how he filters, what software is top notch for this? low budget solution prefered but would also like to know the industry standard one....? :help:

it is the X464 Analog Resonant Filters V2 for nebula from http://nebula-programs.com created by entrainer. it is a sampled real filter with HP LP and BP which can be fully swept using VST automation

this is the only VST that sounds analogue to me, and i do own a real analogue filter. no joking, i have made it my business to hear every VST analogue filter emulation going.

you can get nebula for 20 euro or something and this filter is free, so no problems :)

thanks for the heads up, thermal. also, for the OP, you could try bifilter 2 a try, nice and cheap filter, that only lacks a LFO (IMHO).

well, it's a good suggestion, we could add an lfo rate and depth control... nebula allows that.

Post

cool... how would i add an LFO rate and depth control to the program?

Quad Frohmage is my favorite. To me, it's the most versatile. If I run out of ideas, it's fun just to throw it on a track to see what comes out.

Payware - Sonalksis TBK or Uhbik Runciter

freeware - Ohm force Frohmage.

I'm rather tempted by Volcano...

For straight-up filter sweeps and simple stuff like that, Simplon sounds incredible, and it's a lot quicker to get good results than with Volcano. Volcano is great as well, but you'll spend a lot more time fiddling with it than making music. :)

That's what she said.

What is the "making music" you speak of?

TBK - A.R.T. for creative filtering £53.99(looks nice)
BiFilter2 £28.03(looks nice)
Tone2 BiFilter Free Downloaded this free
Runciter - an evil filter Cannot be bought seperately(149 USD for Uhbik complete but looks nice)
X464 Analog Resonant Filters V2 ?(baffled by the only link on the web)
Ohm force Frohmage Downloaded this free
Volcano 2 Far to complex looking for what I want
Simplon £54.00(prefer the gui of the first 2 for payware)

Thanks for all your replys, freeware for now(fromage) but got my eye on the
others incase it's no good, but hopefully it should do ok! cheers :)

keep coming with comments though as opinions are always helpfull to everyone...

As far as sound, my two favorites are SoundToys' FilterFreak...
http://www.soundtoys.com/products/FilterFreak/index.php

and Uhbik Runciter, but Filter Freak is always my 'Go To'.

Special mention for Sonalksis TBK. I love the sound of it but it's really simple and it doesn't overdrive as nicely as the others.

I also love the flexibility of Volcano2 but I like the sound of FilterFreak much more.

I hate using "best" because I think of it more as what has interesting characteristics for what I want at the moment. Here are a few I love that come to mind.

The Uhbik one. Runktifier or something named so I can't remember it. Also from U-He: http://www.filterscape.com/

Frantic Filter http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1707.html

Dr. Device (I bet all the audiodamage ones are good, but I can't say as there are no demos)
