Hi Folks

I am working for a while now on a Cantabile Telnet Client focussing on touchmonitor operation for selecting subsessions and set list song entries and attaching data to selection items.

I have put together a very first user guide pdf now.

Please contact me via PM if you are interested in this. Add your email adress if you wish to post me the user guide to you. Let me know if you want to alpha test the software. You basically do not need a touch monitor for this, I've lately added a "window layout" panel mode too.

Thanks!

Ubercool!

Now I wish I had something to touch upon :D

Well but you don't need a touchmonitor to ckeck it out or to read the guide... :D

Imagine that it's real networking here, no midi... and Cantabile Telnet Server can manage more than one client... so you can select and monitor via more than just your local machine that runs cantabile. Only retrieving attached data via network is another story...

I think I need a better visual on this before I comment. How can I use this?

Hi curucaman

Just send me a PM with your email address. I'll send you the preliminary user guide then. It contains many screenshots which I hope give you some idea about the concept.

I am honoured that you consider "using" it, but at the moment I am about alpha testers who give it a try and feedback to me. If you like testing I can sent you a trial too.

Sounds interesting, but why telnet? Wouldn't it be more straightforward for your touchscreen app to generate MIDI messages which could then be routed by either Cantabile or any other MIDI app?

I've started all the stuff with midi and I will add something to send midi bank and patch numbers anytime.

The benefit of Cantabile Telnet is I get feedback that I do not get via midi... does any expander confirm a patch change? ...never heard of that.

But with Telnet I can display some more, for instance wether the sound engine has stopped... I can update my list if something has changed in cantabile... and I can have more than one client on different machines and each can control and see changes... hard to imagine with midi.

But again, I will also do something for good old midi patch selection too - it's were I started. I am just focusing on Cantabile right now so midi has to wait... :)

If Brad adds "Midi via Telnet" in Cantabile I will try this too...

If you like, send me your email address via PM and you can get a preliminary user guide to see what the idea is about. :D

Hi folks,
just to keep you up to date...

I've included the first sheet viewer prototype in Touch Control now. It is meant for easy viewing of scanned separate sheets without embedding these in documents first. Sheets can be attached to the Touch Control workspace folder schema - to Cantabile Sessions, Setlists or a new stand alone SheetBook workspace type.

As before there is some touch specific mimic and design here - so the sheetviewer works on a large main screen too - maybe even better. Wished I had two touch screens... LOL :-o

...nice, so still a lot I want to do (including removing some bugs)

Oh, and BTW a slight warning, throwing around scans is not for weak machines with few memory...

Hi Folks...
what's new in Touch Control 6 weeks later?

I've stumbled across my initial goal just providing operation on a second touchscreen monitor of more or less predefined size... realizing that there may be different configurations - like Neko or Miko where the primary screen is a touch screen...

To resolve this I've started to rework the total screen management in TC so it can deal with any multi monitor configuration. The basics are done now, just fine adjustments are on its way.

Initially I also didn't want to store a configuration file and just using data created with cantabile or associated to this by the workspace folder concept... but finally I had to store some settings to overcome some basic inconvenience. The basics for this are done now too - so I do not store much data right now in the new settings.ini file...

Other than this basic work not much has changed.

I'm currently trying to sort out functionality of some panels, the sheet viewer the now separated workspace explorer and the comment viewer...

To finish with, no new alpha testers have contacted me - pity, but I will go on with TC as I want it for my own purposes too...
:D
