It's just that some people absolutely hate downloading anything they're not 100% sure of, streaming takes out the guess work with no strings attached.

Yeah, if you have that one streaming page like you did for the Oatmeal OSC, that should be fine...forgot all about that one...

As one of the damned, I'll admit to this. It even encouraged me to post up to the Music Cafe when people seemed to be er, quite happy with what they were listening totattiemannie wrote:Yeah MadPsyance, I certainly did notice that about the Tal OSC! .... it may be that it is less intimidating to write a track than risk posting an opinion on KVR.... in which case, let the comps continue!!
(as a savage OT plug my new stuff got posted to http://soundcloud.com/mouxbar if anyone wants a listen...)
As to the streaming of the entries, I'm sure folks are used to downloading zillions of VST dll's already. If you're not scared of picking up a virus from these (you should be) then an mp3 download should be pretty much bread and butter activity.
Just my 'hapenny worth but then again I used to do antivirus commercially so perhaps I think I know what I'm doing - heading for a fall then
Cheers,

You may know if you were party to the first OSC, that I tend not to listen to the entries until they are all in and the closing date has passed.... kinda seems fair to listen to them all at the same time, so they are all equally fresh to me.
So I've had a listen to the lot .... and WOW! ... to say that the quality is excellent is an understatement! .... has to be the best collection to date, it's my album of the moment!
( I'm actually thinking of doing a mash up of the whole collection! )
Whether it's because we are getting better at it, or whether it's down to the versatility and scope of Crystal, or both, I dont know .... but I am absolutely bowled over!
It feels good being a part of it, not in terms of having a track included, but in that if we didn't all do our bit to keep these comps going, these tracks may not have been created.
So well done to every single one of the contributors .... this is going to be a right chinscratcher when it comes to casting a vote!
Hopefully I'll have the poll posted later tonight, but if not, certainly tomorrow.
happy listening!

My point is that downloading is WAY more inconvenient to the casual KVR browser than streaming. Simply put, the easier to access the music, the more people listen to the music, the more voting.slugfest99 wrote:

... yeah, still thinking about that mash up!!
.... or maybe we should have a 'Crystal comp entries best mash up comp' ...
.... Anyway, mirth aside, I've posted the voting thread!
Here we go ...

Fair point MadPsyance, in a dirty sink full of untensils some are going to be easier to find than others. I just guess I tend to know whats's in the sink in the first place.MadPsyance wrote:My point is that downloading is WAY more inconvenient to the casual KVR browser than streaming. Told you I was heading for a fall...
On another strange note. If Tattie is feeling really evil, perhaps he might want to look at Majkens Chimera for a OSC compo. Another very unusual synth which would be pretty difficult to get working on tracks as it is so er, odd. Honestly, I'm not being serious but it would be some challenge to work with.
And if anyone wants a very trippy/FUS pad synth it's not a bad place to look if you haven't seen it before.
I'll get me coat then - vote put in
