Anyone have any success installing the drivers on Vista 64? I've got everything set up and working except for the Stealthpedal. I submitted a service request to IK a few days ago but no response at all.

No Vista 64 USB drivers from IK Multimedia yet. See the recent post on Vista 64 and StompIO. I ended up using ASIO4ALL, which lets me use the pedalboard but with some loss of functionality.

Thanks. I wonder what the time table for that is. My guess is, if they haven't done one for the stompio in all this time, they probably won't do one at all. I didn't realize this 64bit OS was going to be such a hassle. I wish Microsoft would let me exchange it for the 32 bit version. I guess I can either hope and wait, or install Windows 7 and see if it works with that. I don't even care about the audio io, all I want is the pedal functionality.

What do you mean? Are you saying you get audio in and out but no button/pedal control?

Correct, I can't control patches directly from the board (and no display on the board of the current patch), although the signal path works correctly. It's fine for my purposes since I am using in the studio with a power amp and not live, otherwise I would be screwed :-)

So... I guess I can either sell/return the Stealthpedal or get a 32bit OS. Awesome.

Basically. I had been using XP on an older laptop and had horrible performance and wanted to move to another machine I already had setup for other things. It is a bummer 64-bit isn't supported for the USB drivers yet.

We are actually working on 64bit drivers, and they should be entering Beta in the next few weeks. Be patient, they are coming!

Do you need any beta testers? :)

Nice to see the developer chime in here with a progress report.

I think it is fair to say that is still too early to go 64 bit with a lot of audio hardware.

There are many audio/midi devices - including right up to date things like the Stealth Pedal and Stein-aha's MR816CSX/X interfaces that either don't have 64 bit drivers or, if they do, the 64 drivers are in beta/don't work as well as the 32 bit ones.

The fact that MS won't let you install both or swap from one to the other is a real PITA.

It is kind of a pain, but I can understand where they are coming from-the more they push for different driver architecture, the further they can push away from legacy code.

I can say that IK really does care about having solid drivers-when we put out the drivers they will be right. We want to make sure that our drivers on every supported platform work the same-really really well!

It's especially rough for a consumer when you're faced with either building your own machine (not cheaper and potentially hellish) or buying off the rack and having to prowl generic big box stores for deals on acceptable hardware. I've got a MOTU 828 and they're awesome about having 64 bit drivers available... but then you run into needing a machine with a TI firewire controller chipset. So smash cut to me trolling Best Buy and others calling up the device manager until you find something you can afford, has the chip and is decently equipped.

I knew I was going to run into trouble when the only machine that fit the bill came with Vista 64 pre installed. So far the only show stopper so far was the Stealthpedal, so I consider my self lucky. I did without it for a long time so I'm OK with being patient for a little longer.

Now I just have to figure out the new "Sorry, your software was authorized yesterday but not today" shenanigans of Vista.

You are def not alone-one of my best friends in the world has been asking from the announcement about the availability of 64bit drivers. I am a bit of a fan of the Apple system-Snow Leopard will be 64bit, but through Core Audio most of my gear is still driverless. This is not meant to be a slight against Windows mind you-I dual boot!

I promise you that the moment I have any news on 64bit drivers for Spedal I will make sure that you all get news. We want to make sure that they function 100% the same as 32bit, that it isn't some half effort like I have seen many companies in the computer peripheral world do in the past.

Hopefully 64-bit StompIO drivers will come soon, too!
