I have, for a long time, wanted a dedicated scripting environment for controlling the flow of MIDI. I can never quite get the flexibility and clarity I want out of Logic's Environment, or Bidule, or MIDIPipe.
I've used Impromptu and ChucK, but these environments are too multi-media savvy and heavy-weight for simple MIDI processing, and as they are geared to live coding, they have a certain amount of overhead attached, and are not always very stable.
The implementation of Lua in your plugins is fantastic! I love it! The syntax is perfect, somewhere between javascript and Python, and It's simple enough to throw quick scripts together and reliable enough to forget about.
So I want to know if it's feasible, and if you'd consider creating a standalone version that simply routes MIDI to MIDI via your Lua scripting environment.
Or, failing that, if you have any suggestions for achieving the same thing. I know, for example, that Augustus Loop can send OSC to arbitrary ports - is it also possible to get MIDI out in a similar way?

Set Theory claim:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate.
Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

Wow,that looks amazing! I've heard about it but never really looked into what it does. It seems incredibly powerful. And OSC too,YAY!!!whyterabbyt wrote:Nothing to do with Expert Sleepers, but have you tried VSTLua?

Well there you go, looks like someone saved me a job
My Lua scripts currently don't send MIDI. No reason I couldn't add that though. Let me know if VSTLua doesn't meet your needs and I'll see what I can do.

VSTLua does look good. However, it appears to be Windows only, which counts me out. And being a AULab / Logic / Mainstage person, I haven't touched a VST in a while...
If MIDI were added to AL I'd be a very happy chappy!
