Hello,

I've got a Roland Juno 60 at home and was really interested if Elektrostudio's SxMJune did really sound like a Juno. I've already tested the TAL Uno.

I've programmed a sound on my Juno 60, SxMJune and TAL Uno. It's not a preset. The knobs on all three are as close and the same as possible.

You can compare the three in this mp3 file. There's a short bass line played three times by another synth. I won't say, which is the real one.

Have fun! :)

Yes. Not on KVR though.

Everyone join me in singing that old Sesame Street song: "One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just isn't the same..." :D

First off, if #3 is the Juno, I'll be pretty shocked.

My guess is #1 is real. If that's the Polish synth, I have to give some real props. It sounds better than #2.

I want to say the first one is the Real Juno... But they are so slose it really doesn't matter.

I owned both a Juno 6 and 60, and to me the Uno62 is the absolute closest. The Polish Juno is not really a Juno in my book, but I love it all the same. It has a bite...

Well, I for once care to know the results. I don't see what's wrong in comparing hardware with the software that it tries to emulate?

I wanna know too :D

My guess: SxMJune, Juno, U-NO.

I just want to make clear that it was not my intention to come across as an asshole. I really meant my question - SxMJune is so lovely-sounding on its own that it can be very useful to anyone whether it sounds like a Juno or not. :)

I agree with the other posters though: 1st is Juno, second is Elektrostudio and third is TAL.

So when do we find the answer? I am curious... I have to admit that I've made more sounds on the Analog Pack than I have with any other VSTi... I simply LOVE them.... So regardless of the "score"... I will always use SxMJune...

Oké, I'm at work now and forgot my password. So I've used another account/inlog.

Here are the results:
1. Juno 60
2. TAL U-no
3. SxMJune

The TAL is very close imo. With longer sustained sounds, the results are even better. With short sounds like this it's more difficult for me to get the same results. The TAL sounds and responds like a real Juno.

The SxMJune sounds nowhere near a real Juno. I'm not the worlds best programmer, but I think it's impossible to get it sounding like a real Juno. It may be a great synth, but is not a Juno emulation. But if that's not what you want, it's ok for me. :)

Thanks for your reactions.

I was pretty sure the first one was hardware as I heard some kind of background noise....just out of curiosity, could you tweak the sxmjune a little to sound more like it..even if the knobs aren't in the exact position as the hardware?

Well I won't say I couldn't do more, but I think it's useless. The SxMJune sounds and reacts so different compared with a real Juno.

With the TAL Uno I always have to tweak the knobs a little. The parameter stripes are not the same as on a real Juno. But with the TAL it's far more easier to get what you want (If you want an emulated sound of a real Juno).

Kind regardz,

Jos
