I've recently started into the Cantabile and MIDI world, so I'd love to have help in moving to the next level!
I have added iZotope's iDrum to my VST plugins. My goal is to have the one and only parameter (the "Pattern") change after x number of measures.
My first guess at how to do this is to import a MIDI file that has note C4 (for instance) play for X measures, then C#4 play for Y measures. Each note would be translated into a command that iDrum would see as a Pattern change.
I'm sorely lacking in the abiilty to make this work. is this possible? I haven't figured it out yet.
Thanks for your help!
Kurt
Changing MIDI Note into VST Parameter

I now see that iDrum has the ability to create "Songs", which basically take care of that specific question.
But, I would like to expand the question to be "how can I control any VST plugin parameter over time from a MIDI file?"

I'll answer my own question. Here's what I did:
* Create a musical MIDI file that's pleasant to listen to, import it into Cantabile--Media File 1.
* Create a MIDI file with a run of notes from C4 to C5 near the end of my pleasant Media File 1, import it into Cantabile--Media File 2. This is the file to control my VST parameter.
* In the Media File 2 Tools menu, select Show Track List. Assign the output to channel 2.
* Select a plugin to play Media File 1.
* In MIDI Filters, create two filters on the plugin Rack:
* Note to Controller Assignment: apply to channel 2, C4 to C5, default for the rest
* VST Parameter: apply to channel 2, source controller 0, target parameter set to whatever effect I'm after.
The help document says the VST Parameter filter is for compatability and that MIDI Controller Assignments should be used.
I couldn't get the same functionality out of MIDI Controller Assignments. Am I missing something? (Maybe it would help if I actually had a MIDI controller)
