Yes this is really good. There was a feature request a couple pages back about stage positioning. I know you can't really do this without miking the IRs properly, but you can fake it. I was fooling around with Origami's stage positioning feature, and it's clearly being processed.
With Reverberate I can make far away sounds and other weird "positioning effects". So, here's my feature request:
Some sort of "fake" stage positioning thing like YT's Origami. Would it be possible?
Even if it isn't I think I'm going to have to buy this!

I would very likely be interested in a Mac version since the price is so good, but I didn't see any sound examples on the page, am I missing them? Us Mac users can't demo it, you know.

Thanks for the idea - I can see the argument, but without a good impulse library to go with it (as Origami has) I think this kind of feature would confuse quite a lot of people, so I think I'd rather pass for now. It would be a good thing to introduce with a bunch of good presets, as thing move around on a stage the filtering and pre-delays could change relative to position, it would be pretty cool really, but a lot of work; so perhaps a very long term aimKlipspringer wrote:Some sort of "fake" stage positioning thing like YT's Origami. Sorry to bongo_x for the lack of audio demos. I have not included audio demos since I think the value of an IR reverb can be mostly found in personal experimentation with your favourite IRs, and it's so program material dependent I am not sure I could really show it off very well in such a theatre, so I went for a demo instead. I realise Mac folk are cut out of the demo fun, but I am still noting down when people flag their interest, so thanks for taking the time to post.
Lux Delux: Good to hear you're choosing it over C5's IR verb
All: FYI, there is an update coming very soon that's going to allow modulation of two true stereo IRs, up to this point it's only been possible to load true stereo IRs by using the IR1 and IR2 containers, and hence loosing the usefulness of the IR1/IR2 modulation. That's going to change, so anybody hooked on true stereo IRs will soon be able to play modulation games too

Oh yes, we can demo any Windows application or VST pluggin.bongo_x wrote:I would very likely be interested in a Mac version since the price is so good, but I didn't see any sound examples on the page, am I missing them? Us Mac users can't demo it, you know.

Two days ago I tried it in Darwine and it worked perfectly as long as you
have a host that is working well under Darwine.
I think, sound examples are not really representative.
The quality depends too much on the impulse response that you use
as also on the quality of your sound card.
Nevertheless, there are a few things that could be added or changed
to make this great plug-in even better.
For one, if you're using it as an insert,
WET should always be at 100 and the DRY at 0%.
A simple switch named insert is all it needs.
Another thing, the plug-in is not going into sleep mode
when it is not getting an active audio signal.
Which means, that it is using unnecessary CPU while not in use.
there are still another few things I wanted to say but they escaped me at the moment.
Cheers,
René

Great stuff... I'm really looking forward these additions.liquidsonics wrote:FYI, there is an update coming very soon that's going to allow modulation of two true stereo IRs, up to this point it's only been possible to load true stereo IRs by using the IR1 and IR2 containers, and hence loosing the usefulness of the IR1/IR2 modulation. This feature actually made it in at v1.006. I called it Wet/Dry Override and is one of the pull down options. You can use it to force the plugin to 100% wet at all times, whatever the dry/wet setting is on and is a system wide registry based setting that affects all instances.Midiworks wrote:For one, if you're using it as an insert, WET should always be at 100 and the DRY at 0%. The sleep mode is an interesting idea

Hi
I've posted an update to Reverberate v1.1. Since there are quite a few new features I'm putting it up at KVR first as a release candidate for the moment. If anybody has issues please let me know. If there are no real issues within a few days I'll update it to the full release.
The update is available from the usual place.
The main thing really is enhanced support for true stereo files, now those nice Bricasti M7 true stereo samples from http://www.rhythminmind.net/presetblog/2009/06/667/ should be easier to use with Reverberate, plus they can now be used with modulation.
The list of new stuff:
- Added a topology control to enable (i) pre-convolution mono mixdown feeding a stereo convolution, (ii) parallel stereo and (iii) true stereo modes for both IR1/IR2 containers. This enables IR modulation in all 3 topology modes (it was previously not possible to modulate two true stereo IRs) and improves compatability with hard panned left/right audio sources.
- The IR1 and IR2 containers now provide the option to load two stereo impulse responses for use in true stereo mode (termed IR1-A/IR1-B and IR2-A/IR2-B) for a total of 4 concurrent stereo convolution channels.
- Introduced an IR reverse control to enable reversed reverb effects.
- Changed IR1-to-IR2 and IR2-to-IR1 buttons to provide more detailed copy and reset functionality.
- Added IR delete buttons to unload the currently loaded IR.
- Settings moved on to a new 'Settings' tab.
- Added an option to choose between factory defaults, empty, or user selected initial presets for new instances.
- Added an auto-pairing option for automatically seeking pairs of true stereo IRs when matching a naming convention (<name>L/R.<extension>, <name>Left/Right.<extension>). This is the default behaviour on installation.
- Added critical sections around parameter change notification to mitigate against a rare 'missed' IR update change bug.
- Manual updated to describe the new features.
I hope people like the new features. I am especially interested in any results with Cubase 4 / 5 as I am unable to test on that host.
----
Edit: I have posted a little info on the site about true stereo IRs to explain the topic a little for those who are not familiar with it.

The True Stereo mode works flawlessly in Cubase 5 64bit. Especially awesome is the automatic second channel file pick, great work
Can only manage a quick spin but did some quick file flippin, chorus on/off etc. and no errors thus far. Except the "too long reverb" or something but that's not an error of Reverberate so no probs.

With the 2nd IR channel staying in sync with the first in true stereo mode, it felt like something that would really ease workflow with true stereo IRs

Dunno really, was just randomly going through some M7 files. But I encountered that with the previous version too so maybe it's just some .wav from the packs with a prob. Next time I load it up and encounter this I'll write down what file it was. Maybe something occurred during decompression of the zip.liquidsonics wrote:Not sure what you meant by "too long reverb", the Reverberate limit for reverb files is 90 seconds at 44.1k (45s at 88k etc), so I presume it's not that you're hitting a limit with that. It's totally artificial as a limit anyway (but it seemed sensible to add a limit of some kind), so could be raised at any time if people find it too low.

Yes let me know if there is an issue here. Perhaps try loading the files that give you trouble in audacity to see if it's a wider issue.Lux Delux wrote:Dunno really, was just randomly going through some M7 files. Whoaa, I've found it. It's the M7 Europa preset. A monstrous 45 second 96k true stereo IR. Cool! I've upped the limit for the next release to accommodate it because it's a gorgeous presetLux Delux wrote:Except the "too long reverb" or something but that's not an error of Reverberate so no probs.

Edit
I have been made aware of a bug in the RC with the next/prev arrow buttons which is to do with the new pairing feature. For now, anybody having issues with them not responding can use a workaround which is to turn off pairing in the mixer page. Good job this is an RC

Slowly but surely this plugin reaches greater heights. Fantastic work, sir!liquidsonics wrote: - Added a topology control to enable (i) pre-convolution mono mixdown feeding a stereo convolution, (ii) parallel stereo and (iii) true stereo modes for both IR1/IR2 containers. Reverberate 1.1 RC2 is up, mainly to fix an issue with the IR navigation, but also it increases the maximum IR length to let that M7 Europa preset load, which I think is such a cool preset! Any issues, let me know. FYI the website will be down for a few hours today (don't know quite when, but my host informed me for 2 hours between 10pm - 5am UK time 29/30 June)
