As the title suggests, Silent Way works great with my Synthesizers.com modular. I haven't tried the VST version yet, but the AU works perfectly with my MOTU 828 MkII and the Dotcom system. These guys have done fantastic work.

Off to test more!

So far I have it working with

Synthesizers.com
ARP Odyssey MkII
EMS VCS3 (see other thread for particulars)
Minimoog (original Model D)
Roland SH-101

Add Roland SH-101 to the list of synths that Silent Way will work with. Perfect tuning over a three octave range.

So, do you think this technology can replace a midi box such as Pro 2000 MK II?

Post

I haven't used the Pro 2000, but it covers a lot of the same ground... however, the Kenton has a Sync port which would be handy for some drum machines and sequencers.

The Kenton looks pretty damned slick, but then it costs $350 more.

Yes.

It can do everything that the Kenton, Doepfer and Encore Midi>CV converters can do and more at much higher resolutions. There isn't a built in clock output yet but you can emulate one using the trigger output of the voice controller.

I can't get it to work (yet) as a VST in Cubase 4. Silent Way DC doesn't show as a VST.

How about a real tutorial? Is that so hard for Expert Sleepers? The manual is pretty sparse. (of course I'm dense) :^)

Mybe it might be best to make the voice controller for vst a Vst Plugin rather than a vsti instrument.

That way you can have an audio input as well as an output, I'm pretty sure you can then control it by midi as well (could be wrong).

Lot of Cubase users out there dying for this to work :)

I am using a MOTU 2408MK3 which works really well with Volta, but Ihave high hopes for Silent Way once we get it working.

Post

Scot, can you confirm that Silent Way tracks properly with the MOTU 828mkII? I was just about to buy a license tonight, when a friend mentioned that he heard the mkII only puts out about 4 volts. He claimed that a mk3 or other recent interface is required.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Clock and LFO plug-ins are next on the list to add to the Silent Way family.

If you go to YouTube itself, enable "Watch in HQ" and full-screen the videos you can see what's happening a lot more clearly.

I just added some example Ableton Live sets, by the way.

I'm rapidly coming to the same conclusion.

However, I need to be sure that MIDI control is possible of VST effects in Cubase. Can anyone confirm? Most of the recent Expert Sleepers plug-ins e.g. Augustus Loop, Little Spacey or indeed Silent Way DC can be controlled by MIDI, so please, someone test those and let me know if it works.
