Never understood the custom waveshape request either other than having custom samples processed through the filters/fxs.

FFS :D Waldorf should have had their own support forum on here lol with all the Largo threads starting up..unbelievable :x

I don't understand, why there are so many people wanting custom samples in every synth. I personally wouldn't even think to bother with cumbersome and tedious process of recording and processing my own samples.
So, where do people get those samples they eagerly want to load, and what do they want to do with them that a good sampler doesn't allow? I.e., why do you need specifically Largo to load samples? And are you not getting enough from the wavetables and sound design possibilities that are already in Largo? I mean why would you choose not to explore these possibilities to their full extent, before thinking about importing samples?
Yeah, and why program your own sounds at all, shouldn't you just explore the possibilities of all the presets before wanting to change the filter cutoff?

BTW did anyone notice i published 60 Largo patches here at KVR? Mentioned that in several Largo threads but only one comment so far.

Hi i just seen that mate :) Why don't you do a soundbank for Largo you obviously have talent and know what your doing.
You have made some excellent stuff based on the PPG keep it up..you may not be able to sell direct copies of what you've uploaded but i see your very talented now get a soundbank done for Largo.. i hate to work alone lol :)

Thanks, i guess even with the PPG sounds many patches could follow.

I checked them out today, very nice! The presets are not so "overloaded", they sound very good in the context of a song!

Most of the patches are recreations from the PPG Wave 2.V softsynth so the basic work was already done by others. In those cases i tried to use the original preset names. I "just" had to transfer the settings to Largo. In some cases that was quite hard and the settings were quite different in both synths. Some patches were not possible to transfer, i guess due to the lack of a PPg filter in Largo. The patches which are completely my own are inspired by those other patches.

After i finish the recreation of PPG patches i hope to start patches from scratch which will take much more time.

During programming the patches i learned much about how BOTH synths, Largo and PPG Wave 2.V, work. The LE version of the PPG Wave 2.V is contained in the Waldorf Edition LE which can be found on the Largo CD (folder: additional content). Limitations for the PPG Wave 2.V LE are 8 voices and only 1 MIDI channel.

So why you stop just at sample importing, when you have C++ compiler and can write your own synthesis algorithms and a HEX editor where you can manually sculpt your own digital sample data byte by byte?
Basically, what I'm trying to say, is that Largo (as any other synth) offers a specific set of sound design capabilities. Why can't people work within these capabilities and need to extend them? No one ever asked Moog to add sample import to the Mini, and everyone lived perfectly fine without it, so why suddenly now everyone demands user samples in every synth?

I agree. The only thing we really need is a PPG filter in Largo !! They made it in the Q, the Blofeld and the PPG Wave 2.V softsynth. Should not be too difficult to implement.

I don't think everyone suddenly demands user samples in every synth.

The hypothetical person with the C++ skills you describe can build a personal-ideal synth from scratch; no need to start with Largo.

The calls for sample import in Largo probably have a lot to do with the existence of this very feature in its hardware first-cousin.
