A message on the Waldorf forum:

"Hi Forum Guys,

I've been noticing my main patch knob (Blofeld module) has
not been changing the patch/parameter when I turn it sometimes.

For example - when changing from one patch to another the screen
will flicker but will not actually change patch - this can happen 2 or 3 times
in a row. This mainly happens on patch changes and a little on the menus.
Even at very slow turning speeds this will happen.

Since putting on 1.13 and the Sample upgrade this is more noticable
Before I put the upgrade on (1.12) this would rarely happen.

I first thought my sounds might be screwing things up because I have been
deleting sounds and moving the rest to the front to make some space.
-- My Blofeld doesn't like me moving sounds - it does weird things
sometimes as well.

BUT - I put the factory sounds back in to test it. and the Knob still does it.

Has anyone noticed this with their Blo?
Or does mine live in its own crazy world."

Other message:
"Hi,

Happens with mine too. Skips patches/pages, particularly on the amp/arp/fx pages where it tends to skip backwards. I think it's just something to do with the processor notupdating fast enough. Nothing too important anyway, you get used to it after a while (just keep your hands well away from the knobs when saving patches ;-) )"

AMy knob under Largos display always does what it should do... nother reason to stick with Largo IMO !! :D :D :D

Yeah it has it's problems but it's a gorgeous sounding synth. No probs with the hardware here so far. Had a couple of issues with saving patches though. :( I got mine for live use so i wouldn't swap it for Largo (unless the knobs fall of ).

Now, I've had the experience that most devs will gladly provide a new number, but you'll have to ask each company. I think the license utility can also offer other options for saving a license for use on a new system, but I haven't done that so I can't guarantee it.
I have to put up with similar activation bullshit with Ableton. I refuse to for anything else because as of yet, I just cannot find another DAW that suits my needs.

I would much rather purchase real hardware - it's mine to do with as I please, where I please and when I please.

THAT is why I have a Pulse and a Microwave, and definitely won't have any interest in Largo.

You are precisely describing a dongle .

Did anyone here try to make a Largo patch with 2 or more Layers ?? If i try i am not able to get a sound from the second layer. I tried to use MIDI channel 5 like proposed in the manual and switched the output to "Stereo". No success. :?

Does your DAW pass through the MIDI on the chosen channel ? For example, it works fine for me in Logic, but not in Live.

In Sonar you open Largo and choose all synth audio outputs.
Make sure Largo is set to Multi on the GUI
Set Largo to channel 5
Layer 1 is automatically activated..you now need to click on the other Layers to activate the others 2/3/4

So far no luck with Live.

Exactly. What he said is the exact reason I always go for the dongle.

It's a bit tricky with live...I had the same problem. You have to create two miditracks and one audio track. On one miditrack you put Largo, no inputs, output to audio 1. on the other miditrack you choose largo as midiout, and under that the midichannel largo shall respnd to, for example 5 for all 4 layers. then on audio 1 you click the IN button, (left from AUTO), and choose Largo as input, under that Largo channel. That's all:-)

Thanks, really works that way. Just two things i had to add:

1.) on the second MIDI channel (not Largo) i can set the MIDI controller and any MIDI channel i want for that. The channel of the controller has nothing to do with the channel for Largo in this setup. I have to choose IN on that MIDI channel to play notes (or auto for patterns).

2.) I have to choose "Stereo" in Largo as have only connected one channel of my M-Audio Ozonic at the moment. By choosing "Stereo" all four layers play on one channel.

I saved a Live project which contains only those 3 channels and the settings. This way i don't have to do the settings every time.

A funny thing is that additional layers only have a small impact to the CPU use compared to multiple instances or just using the unison in one instance.
A patch with 4 layers (20 oscillators !!) uses the same amount of CPU than a single layer with 4 voices of unison. :o :D

yes, I saved a project with the Largo-settings, too

Yeah - that's what I found earlier when we were talking about the CPU usage. The extra layers seem to only add a slight amount more compared to the first.

This proedure seems to be eliminated with the new version 1.1.0 of Largo. For using layers you just have to activate the "layer" switch, set the output to "Stereo" and activate the desired layers. No complicated setup needed any more.

If you save this configuration with the patch no special setup is needed.

Largo is pissing me off. Spent all day working on a song, and now the patch is unusable, maxing out the CPU after a few seconds. Jesus.

Tried the program on Ableton and FL - same result. Can anyone take a look at it for me?
