Well I demoed Breverb and thought it sounded pretty weak and grainy like every other native plugin algo reverb I have tried. I even re downloaded the full version demo around the time of the Audiomidi offer to double-check - but passed on bothering with the $5. Aether for me was nearing a high Quality reverb - but still was lacking slightly in depth, and small spaces were grainy and thin when compared to good IRs or Nebula.
There are the occasional plugins I try and go "wow". Like SoundToys Echoboy, Great IR verbs or Nebula EQs. They feel like hardware to use - and thats how I felt with Ariesverb. I would not say it is a 'one and only' reverb and have not tried it in a mix - but for electronic music production I think its gonna be an unmissable tool for me given its array of fx and uses...The reverb is real sounding and properly smooth and deep. It sounds like a hardware reverb.

Yeah I like a lot Aether but I cant say its a go to reverb. But what does Aether, no other verb can come close atm.

My go to reverb is still AAR, then next is CSR, then sometimes Epic Verb or distinctive reverbs ( But I mentioned it because its one of the best freewares I've tried)

As for convol reverbs, well, theyre ok for some special tasks, but I prefer algos almost each time ( Convol are really an hassle to tweak imho + a good stereo is harder to achieve). Yet Tbh I use far more HW verbs, as Im a kind of Lex addict.

As for Aries Verb, We just tried it at a friend's studio, and well, .... its not a bad reverb ... All I cant say atm.

But its now possible to make a track using only sw verbs. Then its all a question of personal taste, references and colors. :shrug:

I have tried Breverb now for some minutes doing A/B test with AriesVerb.

I was not impressed at all with it, as some one else in this thread " it sounded pretty weak and grainy like every other native plugin algo reverb I have tried"

And I agree.... Breverb might be good for some productions and vocals...but for electronic music it sucks... I have no impressed at all with Breverb, I think Aether is way better then Breverb...I still think Aether wins the battle for their versatility....but AriesVerb is the best reverb for ambient/electronic music and to create vast atmospheric sounds...it probably work for more..but I found this is where it does deliver best...It sounds also much more detailed and crystalclear and smooth tails...... not grainy or dusty as many other reverbs...

I've been wanting a UAD or Powercore card for some time now...is Ariesverb comparable to their reverbs? I don't have access to either of the card types to get a proper listen and evaluation...

The UAD Plate 140 is regarded as one of if not the best software plate reverb, however their other reverbs are not that special. The Powercore however are prob the most well liked reverbs available ITB. I think Areisverb seems like it is very high quality but I dont think it could directly replace the VSS3. I wouldnt worry too much about that as Ariesverb is pretty nice. I dont know what your reverb requirements are but Ariesverb (will do), Arts Acoustic and some Acousticas Impulse responses do a very nice job for me. A Powercore + VSS3 is pretty expensive and potentially overkill for a lot of users.

Just quickly demoed the Ariesverb. I found the default preset in the Ariesverb demo (Temple...) sounds a lot like the Audio Damage EOS default preset and if you teak the EOS you can get it sounding practically identical. Maybe they're using similar principles, though you clearly get to tweak a lot more in Ariesverb.

Interesting...there is no demo of EOS ???
I want to try it...

just want to say, the reverbs in this plug are indeed very special. 5 thumbs up.
The GUI however is a tad annoying. nos so much the form but the responsiveness. you have to first click to select a knob and then click again to actually work the knob. strange.

but i don't care bout gui's

Hi boimb,
care to tell me on which host you are?
This deferred activation phenomenon is usually found in some hosts, not all, and only when the AriesVerb window was not active beforehand.

They've never offered demos. You try it by buying it and if you don't like it you will have no problem getting your money back within 30 days of purchase.

Sure, i use the latest Renoise 2 tracker.

Yes, that's a known behavior in Renoise. The first click into the window activates the window, then you can drag around.

Is this similar like u-he MFM2 in Quad Permute and Quad Network mode? These modes produce beautiful reverb effect.

From the description of what I could gather here (http://www.u-he.com/mfm/manual/?page_id=35), some of the described "matrix modes" could be translated into an AriesVerb rotation matrix:

"Four Mono" (identity matrix):
α = 0°
β = 0°

"Dual Pingpong":
α = 90°
β = 90°
plane = (1,0,0,0) ^ (0,1,0,0)

"Quad Network":
α = −45°
β = 135°
plane = (1,0,0,1) ^ (0,1,1,0)

The other modes do not seem to be possible. "Quad Pingpong" is a row permutation; "12 into 34" is triangular. But AriesVerb can do other interesting matrix modes:

Hadamard (maximum desity):
α = 90°
β = 0°
plane = countless variations

Stautner & Puckette:
α = 45°
β = 135°
plane = (1,0,1,0) ^ (0,1,0,1)

"Triple Pingpong and one Mono":
α = 0°
β = 120°
plane = (1,1,1,0) ^ (0,0,0,1)

Cheers!

I just had a blast with the Ariesverb demo. What a wonderful plugin! It does sound really good but most of all I love it's flexibility. I was able to dial in some pretty crazy settings.

This one went straight to the top of my "must buy soon" list. Damn! :D

Cheers!
