I just sent the 2 banks with 246 factory patches, my own bank and an init bank to Wolfram Franke (Waldorf). From what i heard at least the 2 factory banks will be loaded to the Waldorf homepage:
http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/archive?r ... rgo/sounds

Let's see what happens. :D :D

good luck with a reply :) i asked to do a factory bank for this back in january aimed purely at dance music to show largo in a different light but my request email was never returned :( i would have liked to have seen a wider set of presets to begin with other than the ones included which are good but they don't show off the true potential of largo...a dedicated EDM factory bank however would have appealed to many...

remind me never to ask or volunteer again :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

Great work on this, Ingo. It's very much appreciated 8)

Much Appreciated..That helps out a bunch.Yesterday I was very turned off by the way they had presets organized,thanks for taking the time to organize them m8.. Perhaps they should offer you a job! :D :) btw I like this synth now...funny how little things like preset management issues can mess up a good time for folks like myself.. :shock:

Hi,

I'm demo'ing Largo too. I've done some performance tests with it, because yes, it is the most CPU-intensive synth I've used since Massive. So I've compared it with Massive :)

I tested each synth by playing 16 voices and measuring the CPU usage in Chainer. Keep in mind that since Chainer only uses a single core - these stats are in percentages of just one CPU core

1-osc, no filter or FX:
Massive=11%
Largo=9.8%
1-osc, 24db LP filter
Massive=14%
Largo=11.6%
3-oscs, 2 24db LP filters
Massive=23%
Largo=15.2%

Win XP, Core 2 Duo 3ghz, 4gb RAM, 384 samples latency, 44khz.

So Largo is certainly quite heavy but its also considerably more efficient than Massive. I did one final test, to see how many voices I could get on Largo with 3-oscs, 2 24db LP filters. I could get 102 voices! Keep in mind thats just a single instance running on a single CPU core. If I used both cores, I could load about 204 voices.

I think thats fairly impressive and more than enough. Remember, you can get, what, 25 voices MAX out of Blofeld? So virtually any computer made in the last 3 years should do better than that.

Post

CPU usage is ok i think depends on the complexity of the preset.

but I have more a GFX problem:

Cubase + Largo (two monitors)Largo window is open.
Then Cutoff is automated for example and Cubase is playing...every dynamic gfx in Cubase gets stuttering like the locator.Then i close Largo window every thing works fine :shock: I never had a problem like this with any VST.

Can anybody confirm this...hope you have understand me.

It's about damn time! Do you need a Dongle to run the Trial version?

I stand co :hihi: rrected - this thing has some bad to the bone filters. Boy, somebody loves reverb - lots of presets are drowning in it.

If you don't need a Dongle how come it keeps trying to install Syncrosoft when I run the installer? Or does it just install the Drivers?

No dongle required. I don't have one and it installed fine. You will need to install Syncrosoft LCC though (it auto-installs with the demo).

Its a bit of extra hassle to get it working, but considering its an unlimited 30-day trial I think its reasonable.

The LCC won't run at all for me, it immediately crashes before I get to the license input screen.

Running Vista home premium 64 here. I even tried running LCC in compatibility mode and/or as admin, and...nothing. Double click, then "License control center has stopped working", that's it.

Edit: I even downloaded the latest version from the elicenser site & installed it. Exact same result. Forget it.

Man this thing is quite cpu efficient, I don't know what you guys are talking about. I'm not totally sold on it, but it's pretty cool. The cpu is much less than for example Alchemy or the Prophet V. I'd say the cpu usage is similar to something like gladiator or zebra 2.
