Hmm...I think you mean that many people can not tell what YOU think is a good synth apart from what YOU think is a bad synth...and actually...

that makes sense and would not be arrogant, because fact is that other people is not you!

Unless, of course, that you really mean that your oppinions are over and above all others and thus define what IS a good synth and what IS a bad synth in general. Now THAT would be arrogant...and infantile...and pretty stupid!
hmm, are you right? NO!!

statements like: "somebody should tell the truth: this synth really suck!" are arrogant, infantile, stupid! :!:

What the hell? Continue to talk about this "great" synth. I've finished with my comments. I think anyone is free to express his opinion, my opinion is that Largo sucks, and sucks a lot, and I've explained why I think this. Stop. That said there's nothing more to add.

The Largo sound quality is the same as a bad copy of Vanguard: is harsh, has a weird hi end response, clicks and pop here and there (no it's not my echo layla...), absolutely the worst effect section I ever heard and a lot of other things probably. Maybe the filter section is quite decent.
You can not really compare a easy synth of the first generation like "Vanguard" with Largo. Sorry, but there is a huge difference! Listen to some of the bass sounds of Largo. If you close your eyes, you will think of a hardware synth.
Ok, most of the presets are only average. But this is often a problem, that some plugins have high quality presets from known sound designers and others not.
Largo is not a synth for everyone and may be its not the big monster some people expected. But it has some concepts to create fresh and interesting sounds some people will like.

I'm really disappointed. I owned hardware gear by Waldorf, the PPG software and I have the Blofeld on my "to buy" list... now if I make a comparison between these products and Largo... well! It's a scandal. It's really a piece of crap. Let the enthusiasm slow down and most people will be aware of this. I'm saying this a Waldorf fan: retire this thing from the market, fire up (with a fuel tank!) the developers and start the whole thing from scratch! I'm not kidding when I say there's a lot of free SE stuff which sounds better than Largo!

This post was created by Waldorf guy. Did you forget it? Calm down.

Not that impressed by this to be honest.

I loaded up the fat bass preset...lol. Fat as in Kate Moss fat? Got an old Ensoniq wave synth here that with 1 osc kicks the pants off it in terms of bass.

For ethereal and shimmery sounds I think this synth would be nice, for dx types sounds maybe. I splashed some fx from the Eventide H8000 on it and it does come through nicely. But it still has that in the box feel to it.

Large cpu hit for the sound, I don't mind a large cpu hit if the sound is all that...well maybe Ijust don't like the Waldorf sound. Was never that fond of them in the past.

I think Imposcar has more character.

Plus points are the unique filters and oscilators, I wonder what the price will be for this. For me it's a $99 synth.

That is all about. I feel the same. Powerful sound getting just by a few clicks. I have nothing to compare with it, nothing. I waited the sound like this for years. And now got it.

Do you mean the "Deep Fat Analog Bass" patch ? Just turn up the SUB-OSCs and/or some unison. If that result is not fat enough check your ears or you speakers.

Too be honest some of the bass patches are fat enough for me as they are, e.g. "Distinto DIZ".

Largo does fat basses easily.. it has 2 sub oscs per layer so that's fat enough..you can get amazing sounds from this vst...problem is that people don't seem to like the factory presets which is fine but the best way to judge is to create your own from scratch and you'll have much more fun.
i have a full "init" bank for anyone who wants it to make their own presets..and Largo is'nt that big on cpu if you use the fx etc sparingly :)
just my opinion of course..there will be those who love the waldorf sound and those who don't and if you don't just buy something else or stick with what youv'e got...it really is that simple :)

Speakers: Yamaha NS-10M with Sub bass unit and also Genelecs as main speakers (though I tend to use the NS-10M's more for some reason)....room with 12 bass traps....checked

Sure it has bass, but solid bass? Sounds a bit mushy to me.

Not saying it's crap, just saying that maybe bass isn't it's best point. A bit like the Virus Ti... great synth but pants at solid bass.

I see this synth being a top end tinkly lead and pads synth.

Post

1 osc from a simple little synth doing a solid bass sound.

Probably not everyones cup of tea but this is how I like my simple bass sounds. Bear in mind it is only 1 osc with no eq or compression.

Very short 24bit 44khz file

Just simple audio sample of sync saw, usnison and delay:
Largo SyncSaw.mp3 - 1.22MB

Sounds massive. I love Largo.

Two wrongs do not make a right! That other people are foolish is no excuse for being foolish yourself.
