That violin stuff is quite impressive (I'm listening to laptop speakers, though).

Well, you know, this is just like a bonus... stretching the capabilities.
Here is guy who took it all the way to the top.

Every sound you hear on this recording is done with a Tyler SE and the AXE-FX Ultra:

 :-o  :o

I am demoing one now and have the hardest time with alot of amps being so dark. I can't dial it out. Some of the amplitude and PEavey amp sims have a clear tone. Now I love the hi gain stuff form the Axe.

Thread resurrection. Would be cool if the Axe FX was more accessible to us regular ol' peasants.

I'm not sure whether you're talking about "accessible" in terms of price or in terms of availability - if the latter, I'd totally agree.
I mean, I really quite like amp sims, be it computerbased or hardware ones, I use them on a daily base, even to make my living, etc. And all I've heard from the Axe-FX so far is quite convincing, too.
Yet, so far I had *no* option to even give it a testride. Ok, I'm not living in a really huge city, but 500.000 citizens should be fine to find a place to test an Axe-FX. Then, last time I've been in Hamburg (I think it's the second largest city in germany), I've been visiting the two largest music shops. No Axe-FX at all, not even one in sight any day soon.
So what am I gonna do? I will never buy anything at this price tag without checking it out more or less carefully.
In addition, I know at least 5-10 guitarists in this area making their living pretty much similar to me. NONE of them does even *know* about the existance of the Axe-FX.
IMO Fractal Audio is losing a lot of potential users just because of that. Really lame marketing and distribution. In fact, I have never seen anything like that from any company with a high quality product such as the Axe-FX.

Cheers

It was awhile ago but I was probably talking about price. It is really expensive. I did notice more and more sales on ebay so the used prices are going down a tad. It does suck that you have to order it to try it and ship it back if you don't like it. Honestly, I can get just as good sounds for my stuff from some of the free amps and using the red wirez impulses.

Well, for me it'd be a matter of live useage, and I still can't see myself regularly using a laptop yet - I already tried a few times and my biggest troubles have been to find a safe place onstage for the goddamn thing.
I mean, unlike keyboarders, as a guitar player you usually don't have any comparatively safe stands with you.

Wagner Sharp v0.6 with Mercuriall cab...

I have tested all (ALL!) the program for Windows XP and better hasn't found.
