...played on ugo's String Theory and Jamstix playing some drums behind it.

They are some jazzy chords and a pretty nice melody but that's as far as I can go, I feel kinda spent and creatively drained on this one. I need some lyrics and someone to sing them. :)

As there are at least a couple of kind people willing to sing on KvR, the true problem is the lyrics - I really suck at it and if someone could write some, it would be great. The writer of the lyrics can also be the singer if he/she wants.

Backing Track

This is not the finished production obviously, but I intend to keep it sparse.

What I really want to do is remove the drums too and just let String Theory play the arp and have the vocals over it - I want the whole thing to be some kind of "ambient pop" if that makes any sense.

Any help will be appreciated. :)

Actually, I kind of like the title of your post—it could be good song title for a song about somebody who wants to compose a song for his/her loved one, but doesn't know where to start. An idea perhaps? And then you get Al Jarreau to write the arrangement. ;-)

 You're right, it could be the title of a song. Perhaps this song, who knows?

So, any takers or will I have to write the fraking lyrics myself?

Hi Tristeza,
(imho)The problem with adding vocal to this track is that only a select few vocalist (if that) in the world could compete with that arp's frequency/tone and comfortably adjust to it's occasional dissonances. There's little room for vocal melody. Ironically, it might actually be easier to sing over this with just Jamstix playing solo.
You may need to choose a different sound and/or octave for the arp to squeeze a vocalist on there, imo.
my 2 cents. :)

Jason, you're totally right about the arp's tone - vocals are almost impossible to fit over that. :D So I'll change the sound and production. :) However, the dissonances stay! :hihi: That's what makes a song for me.

Thank you for your comments. :)

Actually, I just realized that "I have some chords.... and a melody" fits PERFECTLY into the opening of James Blunt's You're Beautiful (if that's the name of the song). Man...

What's a chord without a melody?

It's like a word without a sentence
Just a word that makes no sense

(The movie-savvy among you may notice that the chorus lyrics bear an uncanny resemblance to the masterpiece sung by Jack Black in the movie Nacho Libre.)

Why do you keep me in s-u-s-p-e-n-s-e?
Are we past or present tense?
