Update a vst parameter externally controlled in a muted rack

Hello,
I've just started evaluating cantabile performer, so I'm not skilled enough yet...
I have two racks with one VST plugin for each; there are two sub-sessions: the first activate rack 1 and mute rack 2, the second mute rack 1 and activate rack 2 (via program changes).
I'm trying to use the expression pedal on my pedalboard to control one parameter of the plugin in the rack 1 and one parameter of the plugin in the rack 2; I quickly did it using the midi filters of the plugin for each rack, and I also restrict the action of the pedal so I can choose the range where I want to move the parameter. This works great, but since the controller doesn't work for the muted rack when I switch sub-session the VST parameter is not updated to the position of the expression pedal.
If I declare the controller in the global midi assignement it works for all the plugins at the same time (even if the rack is muted), but I can't restrict the action.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks in advance

Max

Hi Max,

Unfortunately I can't think of a way to achieve what you're after. Let me think about it some more, see if I can come up with something.

Hi Brad,
don't worry, take your time...

If the problem is only because the other racks are muted, is there another way to mute a rack? For example, I've seen that you can decide not to connect the audio input: might this be a solution, or would I have CPU consumption problems?

Thx

Hi Max,

Sorry for the delay. Been busy working on some other new stuff and also had some trouble deciding the best way to resolve it.

Anyway try this: http://www.cantabilesoftware.com/blog/article-187.html

Also, PM sent.

Hi Brad,
thanks for the reply, but what I don't understand is how you get the range fields available. As you can see from my picture (I don't know how to attach it so I use my ftp area, please copy and paste) they are missed. Maybe you are talking about a different kind of plugins..

Also, doing this do you restrict the source action or the target action?

Hi Max,

You can't get it to work cause you've not got the right build. The context setting should be below the action setting -which it's not in the screen shot. Either you've not downloaded the experimental build or I've uploaded the wrong thing. I'll check my end soon - I'm not at my PC atm.

And no, you can't control the source range - just the vst parameter range. Do you need to control the source range too?

Hello Brad,
it seems to me that I downloaded cantabile performer for 32-bit windows from the page Download of your web site. The installer is still saved on my desktop and the name is CantabilePerformer20Setup.exe (4.632 KB).
Hope this helps...

As for the source range, yes, It often happens that you must use a percentage of the expression pedal for a parameter, then the rest for another parameter.

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear - this new feature is currently only available in the experimental build here:

It will be rolled into the official build once I'm happy it solves the problem and doesn't introduce any new issues.

OK. You could probably use the Controller Map MIDI filter to do this. This will let you map a range of one CC to a different range on another CC, optionally clamping at the range ends. Perhaps you can split your one pedal controller into 2 different controllers with different ranges and then assign those ranges separately. You'll need to set these filters at Session or Global input for them to be processed before MIDI controller assignments.

Not sure I've explained that well, let me know if you need additional help.

Hi Brad,
now everything is clear, and it is also clear that there is nothing you can't do with this software :-o .
Thank you very much for your support, and I'll wait for the experimental build to become official...
