the acidvoice samples are better, since there's no video (my old pc here crashes a lot on videos) and they are not "mixed" together, but sepparated
btw, i have a wrong note in my pattern: step10 should be C# transpose+

Ah I forgot to append &fmt=18 which puts it in high quality mode, but get the idea.

I compiled all the things you've said about Venom VB-303, and went through the UI, so I have a sort of documentation on a part-by-part basis if you want it. Could use some cleanup and extra explanations though.

that's nice, but i will make some changes to the synth, so..
i can't start writing the documentation untill i have made all the changes..

one thing i'll try to do is improve the filter, maybe the distortion too
tho, what you've done is good for now, other people may find it useful to have the things i've said in one place ;]

now i think the Default PW value (for the pulse) should be even less
something like 86 or 87%

Did you get the patterns I sent over? If so, what did you think? BTW, The track I wrote and posted here is #2 in the Acid charts over at Soundclick (after having only been up for one day). So a big thumbs up from me and the online listeners for your plug-in I say!!

well, i havn't seen the patterns yet
i got 2 PCs, my internet connection is on the "old one"
the other is new, and i do my stuff there, but they don't have any connection between them
i've made something like an "analog modem-style file transfere" thingie in SynthEdit, but it's darn slow, like 5512.5 bits/sec
i have to record another CD soon with the files i've collected recently from the net, so i can have them on the new pc..

you should do more acid, you got talent!

I worked out quickly how to make nsm files autogenetimagically, so if you would like me to send some over then let me know. Still loving VB-303! Acieeeeedddd!

well, in next release i'll fix that

today i did experiment with a different (more moog-ish) filter, it was nice, but then hearing my current filter, i think it is not much different (while the moog-ish one is harder to work with i think)
i guess i'll continue using the current filter, tho i'll try to fix the resonance a bit

sure, only i won't be able to try then right now
speaking of genetics, i'm quite interested in similar things..
i've read some articles about DSP and artificial neuron networks, quite amazing!
and i'm also amazed by fractals, strange attractors, procedural generation..

btw, the randomizer in the Venom is a bit interesting, i used a really simple and fast 32bit prng (that i use for white noise in audio) and made some binary/math tricks to get separate values from it..

spacedad: um, i haven't used the decimator in this synth (i had such an idea but it's too rude)

Here are my "docs" for VB-303 they are mostly complete on the available parameters, some sections at the end are copy/pastes from this thread and I haven't cleaned them up yet.

I'm using VB-303 in a song along side EnergyPro, its really awesome, though it seems the internal sequencers of the two synths are off beat or something, they don't seem to match up perfectly. Still sounds awesome though.

i read it carefully
just some little corrections:

- Default PW (will be changed in next release) should be 87%
- OSC2 - volume is not automaticaly adjusted, when both oscillators are used you the peak gain is double ... tho the detune for OSC1 is autoadjusted
- HPF is actually a 6dB filter, the knob range is from about little over 0Hz to less than 1KHz (exact values are not important)
- Accent - how much the Accented notes should be "accented"
- Decay - Decay time for normal (not-accented) notes
- AccDcy - Decay time for accented notes
note: Decay, AccDecay control the Filter Envelope, the Volume Envelope Decay is fixed
Gimmck - the default position is 50%

Sequencer section
hints for the Tempo:
- the TEMPO_AUTO button should NEVER be automated
- to set a specific tempo you can first push Auto, then tweek the tempo in your DAW (Venom will catch it) then turn Auto OFF, the tempo will remain what it was last set by the DAW ;]

- Note Length - actually this is the duration of the Step, each Step is 1/4 beat long, this is if Step Length is 8/8... the default 4/8 means that each step will have gate-ON for the first 4/8 of it's duration, and then gate-OFF fot the last 4/8 of it's duration (i can't explain it better, really some musician should help me here) ;]

- Transpose - actually transposes the whole pattern but 1 semitone at a time
- Clipboard hint: the clipboard memory is internal, patterns cannot be copy/pasted between instances... the clipboard has bugs, it is not saved correctly when project/synth is closed (beta)
- Swap - well, this is somewhat not what you think is... when you copy a pattern 2 things happen - the pattern is copied, and it's index is stored in the clipboard too (which is only used for the Swap Function)
...when you move to another pattern and press Swap, the pattern in the ClipBoard is never used, what happens is the current pattern, and the pattern at the slot where the CPY-IDX points to will be swapped
example: you copy pat32 into the clipboard, the clipboard shows 32..
then you modify a little bit pattern32 (the pattern in the clipboard is not touched)
then you move to pattern20, and press Swap
the pattern in slot 20 will be swapped with the one in slot 32, the pattern in the clipboard is still the old-unmodified-pattern32
another case: pat32 is copied, then modified..
then you press Swap (you're trying to swap pat32 with itself) then the pattern from the clipboard (the unmodified one) will be swapped with the pattern in the same slot..
phew

-XY - show/hide the XY-control on the front pannel, where X axis is the EnvMod, Y axis is the Cutoff (this is hopefully an easier way to automate both knobs with only 1 mouse)

- Stepped Cutoff - when enabled, the cutoff value (of the knob) is sent to a Sample&Hold and is holded untill next step (well, not exactly, slides have effect here too)
