Hi Folks,

To celebrate the 14th of July ( French Revolution ) we're pleased to announce the immediate release of :

Electroshock

a Free :D 90 intruments soundbank by Peter Schelfhout for both Linplug Cronox3/Sophistry Vstis.

About Electroshock : Its an oldskool soundset. 90 fresh instruments, including some instruments based on vintage synths, like moogies, sampled by Peter himself, while using Cronox audio engines as well (ie filters, mods, aso).

About Peter : Wellknown Belgian Sound Designer, who have worked for Virus series, Gladiator, AAS, Linplug Alpha, and many other synths. Peter is a classic/classy Sound Designer and offers us neat, very precise and well balanced superb "uber_usefull_and_usable" instruments. :tu:

You can DL the soundset at this page :

Here are two short audio demos for Electroshock, one from Peter and one from Mike ( Aka Mikusan on Kvr)

Crimson Warlock in the house! I'm sure these are top quality patches but I sold my Chrono X 3 license some time ago. However I'd like to give thanks for the generosity of everyone involved. :tu:

Thanks for doing this! My Sophistry has been feeling lonely. Now it will be happy again!

Thanks for Peter to : Sequent Losan Teksonik and Reverend Rythm

All the Kudos should of course go to Peter. :tu:

I'm only the bartender

When I listened to the presets, I really enjoyed the quality and identity of the project, and some sounds did remind me of the glorious 80's Brit Pop Era, with all those Elecronic bands.

So, as you certainly all know, such a soundbank, including making samples aso, is really a labour of love, involving many many hours of hard work.

Although it's FREE, this project has imho all the requirements for a professional soundbank : All presets are normalized, tune verified, with an overall very clear and precise sound design.

Thats why I decided to do what I could to offer Peter's works the best possible exposure and buzz.

I know a lot of us believe in quality freeware, wich can coexist in a pacific way with commercial products, and that the free = cheap equation can be wrong sometimes.

I just hope this soundbank can become another tangible proof of this.

Yes indeed Ltz, you used the perfect word in Peter's original thread: 'tasteful'. When I put together the demo, I was impressed by the way the bank has a real, cohesive identity and does exactly what it sets out to do. And coming from Sheffield, UK I've heard more than my fair share of 80's synth pop :)
I've always been very fond of Cronox for its ability to make weird noises, but this bank shows another side to the instrument which is well worth exploring.
Best of luck with this bank Peter, it deserves to be a big hit:)

Totally agree Mike :)

And thanks for the nice audio demo :D .

+ if you have a web page to link, i'll add the link on the banks page ( I know Peter already asked this, but if/when the situation has changed just let me know, and I'll link to your page )

And a little bump for those who might have missed it :)

Hi Aloysus,

Tbh when I formerly demoed Cronox ( Version 1 or 2 cant remember), a lot of moons before, I wasn't so impressed either, except the sample manipulations were quite innovative at that time, but the current versions sounds nice.

More than that, what is totally cool with Peter's ( Linplug not Mr Schelfhout ) demos is that you can DL and install it and even try the free soundset, load/save presets aso. There's a white noise coming randomly, but you can fully check Cronox as well as enjoy Electroshock and see if it meets your needs, or not :)

No risk there  ( Except a possible loss of time  )

Well I seem to be time rich so I guess I could spend a little and see how it goes! Thanks for your reply. I was serious about that 'hope' thing BTW. Sometimes a different approach by a different programmer, can really open up an instrument to a new interpretation. A new soundset, is a new synth! :)

This reminds me of something on a site I know well  :hihi: :hihi:

Yeah with a piece of wood, some strings and humbuckers you can make many different guitars and thats a bit how I see sound design and the work of different SDs : Getting very different results with the same basis possibilities.

As a programmer, I'm interested in many different sound design works. And I appreciate the works of many people. I'm still learning different things every day.

As a musician, I'm also a preset whore, but there the field of the instruments that really interest me is a bit more strict, though unfortunately ( For my CC :D ) it has a tendancy to widen every day :-o :-o

Anyway you're right Music rely on diversity ....... and a new bank .... is a new synth  ( But much cheaper than a new synth 8) )

And bump for all the Cronox 3 users who might have missed Peter's soundbank ( And btw even people who dont have Cronox might be interested in the Moog aso samples :)

:D :hihi: :hihi:

Well at least this one is free, and others are more than affordable ( If you compare to a VERY GOOD pizza hmmmmmmmm 8) ...)

But ! ........ you can use them as long as you will ( While a pizza ....... one shot pleasure I'm afraid  ........)

Last bump for all the Cronox lovers who are still not aware of Electroshock :)
