I don't really know Cubase's bus and group capabilities. How can I set up Cubase to use the Voice Controller's multiple outputs for envelopes and inputs for calibration?

I must admit I haven't a clue.

Okay, I've figured it out :)

1) It involves creating an 5.1 output bus, making sure that the individual outs are routed to the right hardware outputs of your interface (what you wish to use for CV)

2) In the Arrange window, create an audio track, stereo in (or mono) and stereo out. This is for bringing the audio from your synth into Cubase and for monitoring. Make sure you click the monitor button for this track.

3) Create a group track and select 5.1 for the track configuration. On the insert track select an instance of Silent Way Voice Control.

4) Go into VST Connections and in the Group/FX tab, right click on 'Group 1' select 'Add Child Bus to Group 1' and then click on 'Add All Mono Busses to Group 1'. It should create six busses named after the six outputs of 5.1 surround.

5) On your first audio track used for monitoring, create a bus send and select 'Group 1' for it's output. Make sure the level to this output is set at 0dB

6) Create a MIDI track and set it's output to Group 1 Ins: Silent Way

That should be it. It calibrated just great and I managed to use all the envelopes.

This did highlight a feature request though:

On the output select on the Voice Control plugin - would it be possible to have 'none' as an option? Currently, it sends signals to all six outputs even if you don't need them. This ties up valuable hardware output ports. It is possible to delete Hardware outputs in the VST Connections window thus muting the output but I think it would be a lot more convenient just to mute the outputs you don't need from the plugin itself.

Thanks for posting such detailed instructions - I'm sure other Cubase users will find this useful.

I've redone the output stuff completely for the next version (I tweeted about that earlier). Even so, 'none' for an output option would still be sending a signal to that output, it would just be a zero signal.

Ok, i have recently acquired an 828mkIII and silent way and have been trying to do this method for a few days now with no success.
I think i am missing something really basic here.

Here's what is happening.

When i try this using JUST ONE mono audio channel (analog 1 in/analog 1 out with monitor enabled) i am able to calibrate just fine.
When i try this using this rather confusing method of making a 5.1 bus group i start getting really confised as to where to map my inputs and outputs and end up with two scenereos:
-no CV comes out my analog 1 out and calibration is a straight line
-the monitored audio feeds in and FM's the CV out intended for analog 1 and makes the calibration result look all screwey.

I think a big part of the problem is that i really dont get the intention of what this 5.1 group is supposed to be accomplishing.

I think some screenshots of your VST connections pages and shots of input/output routing for each channel might help clear up some of the confusion because i am kinda lost.
