MIDI File Stripper **New portable version for 2010! Please test it!**2009-04-02T21:54:36+00:00So I finally finished the new version of STMNO ( See here for info on the old version ).
This version gets a new name, fixed bugs, errors and misfires found in the previous version. Its faster, much more reliable and no longer depends on MIDIdsm to strip out non note data.
As per request MFS now creates a copy of the original file instead of overwriting it. When applied to a MIDI file you get a new version named like this *filename*_stripped.mid.
I added error checking in this version so if your having problems simply send me the log file (found in the \Program Files\MIDI File Stripper\log folder) and I should be able to figure out the problem.
MIDI File Stripper is a shell application that strips out all message data from a MIDI file except Note On/Off data. To use it simply install it, then right click on any MIDI file and choose Strip MIDI File.

Please note that if you have STMNO installed on your system MIDI File Stripper will remove it. Also it will leave MIDIdsm and its associated dll files untouched. If you need to uninstall MIDIdsm please do so with the uninstaller that comes with it.
I'm looking for as much feedback on this as I can get so feel free to test this out an post any and all of your results here.
I should have a dedicated webpage up for this soon so please bare with the slow server for now...
Thanks again all and enjoy!Optomadichttps://www.kvraudio.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=163296

Well I thought I created a stable server until I tried it on platforms other than XP . It pretty much went to hell after that. I've been meaning to take another look at this, perhaps a less elegant method can be used to process multiple entries simultaneously.
Will take another look but it wont be till this weekend...
To set the tone for 2010 I though I'd take another swipe at MFS (yea, 5 months later )!
For those that dont know/remember , I created MFS as a speedy process that strips MIDI files of all but note data.
The original was a context menu shell command.
You right clicked on a MIDI file and chose 'Strip MIDI file'.
Heres a public 'beta' of a portable version of MIDI File Stripper, aptly named MFSp.
This version greatly improves on the previous version's core code.
Amoungts the updates and fixes, MFSp has multi file support and also works over shared networks folders and drives.
MIDI files are simply dragged onto the GUI or EXE for processing.
'Stripped' versions of the files are generated and placed in directories of origin.
I will be officially launching MFSp in a new thread/page etc so any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any help!
For those that prefer the context menu version,
I was able to get the command to show up in Vista and Win7!
Just have to make sure MFSp runs 100% on all OS's then I will update the core code to the new scheme and make it available to everyone.
