Maybe someone here can help me? I'm looking to buy a iMac 24" and I'm already using Cubase 5 as a host. Is this a bad choice?YUGA wrote:Cubase 5 on mac here. Looks like I'm a minority
I just wish Steinberg will fix bugs and improve performance at lower latency, then I can be fully satisfied.
I also use Logic 8 and it's nice for composition but I prefer Cubase 5 so far.
I wanna check out Logic 9 but I think I should probably finish my album first.
Which are these bugs you're speaking of? I rather not walk away from Cubase 5 since I don't have the energy to learn a new host

If you are not using Logic at the moment and you are happy with Cubase 5, what is your reasoning for buying an iMac? I have both Mac and PC and I use Cubase as my main host. Cubase absolutely runs better on a PC. Sorry to say, since I do really like OS X as well but for using Cubase I mainly use the PC. I'm not trying to start Mac vs PC, sorry. Just had to chime in that Cubase runs far better on a PC in my experience (and others report this as well, search around). I'd walk away from the iMac rather than Cubase 5 if I were in your shoes, but that's just me.Guitarslayer wrote:Maybe someone here can help me? A comment and a question:
#1- I can't vote for eXT 2.5 the same way I do for 1.4.1. Quite the opposite. And...
#2- Where's the option for Usine?

Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

Yeah, I just like the general outlay of the iMac: Big screen, fast and smooth workingspace (or so I've heard) and compact. What about running XP on the iMac instead?buscemi wrote: If you are not using Logic at the moment and you are happy with Cubase 5, what is your reasoning for buying an iMac? It' a popular product, that is, if people are actually paying for it

Buying an Imac and running Windows on it is such a waste... Windows is a virus - OS X is a 1st class operating system. Stick with PC's - they're cheaper - Mac's aren't for everyone. I have an Imac and also a new Vista laptop - when it comes to recording (or anything creative actually) my Imac is all I need - never an issue with latency, drivers, etc. And OS X is everything Windows SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
