Well, at least four people mentioned RENOISE, and that's potentially three more votes than Rosegarden, MAGIX Sequoia, Sony Sound Forge, or almost anything on MAC except Logic and Cubase. So how about including RENOISE in this poll, then I could vote?!

Just voted Cubase (PC) : even if it has some irritating shortcomings (the never-remaining 'maximized' project window state, the clumsy VST 2.x presets management with mediabay), I think it's still the best one, at least on PC, for the workflow and things like the v.5 variaudio : it's a must... And yes, it is really stable here.
If I had to cast a second vote, it would go to Podium.

see the first half of my post above, though it is meant to be sarcastic for vonbrucken as you are the OP I put the question to you seriously. What is the purpose and why do we care what GS thinks?4damind wrote:We come closer to 400 voters (364)![]()

You should answer this yourself. Why are people interested to know what other users prefer? Why asking people ever and ever "what is the best XXX plugin" or about the used plugins/Daws from known artists?Hink wrote:see the first half of my post above, though it is meant to be sarcastic for vonbrucken as you are the OP I put the question to you seriously. Gearslutz is a well known forum besides KvR. Some people will say its more for the professional users. However, there is a difference about the used and preferred gear. You will hear from many people that Logic and Pro Tools are the most used DAWs in professional studios and also from musicians. If you see the poll here on KvR, this seems not to be true, if you see the poll from Gearslutz this seems nearly to be true (ok, here is also Cubase the most preferred DAW).

That used to be true but now everyone is using Reaper.4damind wrote: You will hear from many people that Logic and Pro Tools are the most used DAWs in professional studios

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

1. I know what gear slutz is but I debate whether or not is for more professional users. In fact that's just absurd and purely subjective, I'm not saying KvR is more for profession users either...that really can't be measured.4damind wrote:You should answer this yourself. 2. Let's look at the impact of of knowing what equipment "known artists" use. Let's see, how about guitars, known artists use Gibson, Fender, and other brand name guitars. The only thing that comes from that is higher prices, then they make a copy of said artists' signature, slap it on the headstock and charge even more for the guitar. Is that guitar going to make my playing any better?
3. The whole what is the best xxx has been done to death (ironically by one person), how can you or someone tell me what is best for my needs. I think the concept is antiquated and not really in the consumers best interest.
4. Your poll however is not any of the above, it is simply what is your favorite DAW? Whether or not people people write the reasons is completely moot because you're only comparing numbers in your updates between us and Gear Slutz. Hardly objective, what actual information can be gathered from a simple poll like this?
5. There are many variables that factor into the reasons why one makes their choice, for instance Sequoia and Nuendo. Both are targeted at those with specific needs and for those extra features you pay a lot more for it. So professional or not if you don't need it why buy it? So both are the favorite of those who have the need for those features and can afford it. Some people start on an upgrade path and don't want to crossover with their DAW. What genres are we talking about, what features are beneficial and what are bloated? Those are just of the myriad of variables by an overly simplistic poll.
So instead of telling me to answer my own question why don't you answer it instead of side stepping it? What is this suppose to prove at the end? This tactic is used by the media to try and gain control of an election, but we can't try out an elected official before we vote them in like we can with DAWs.
So is the answer "I just thought it would be fun after seeing it at GS"? I mean there's nothing wrong with that, don't get me wrong. But you're not the first to make such a poll and you won't be the last. In fact KvR itself did it in the past but that was years ago and hasn't been repeated since.
I'm just saying
