I see that "AA Project Translator" is now reduced to $39.

According to the site,

I am one of the developers of AATranslator and we are a significant way into the development of the ProTools (v5) import function.

It would be of great assistance if a couple of people could send say 2 or 3 PT5 session files so that we can expand beyond our own testing capability.

We don't need any audio just the pt5 session file.

Is PT 6-8 not possible, I'm assuming? Or can OMF be added somehow?

The interface is confusing. It dosnt see any of My Nuendo .NPR projects. Im trying it on Windows 7, will try it on XP and see if it sees the projects then.

Dosnt translate Nuendo directly even under XP, looks like u have to convert to an intermediate file format.

Thats true - there are only so many hours in a day

We import OpenTL which Nuendo can export.
We currently don't export OpenTL but if the demand is there its pretty easy.

It can take weeks for each format and some longer as we not only import but generally then allow exporting to all our currently supported formats.

Cubendo was a nightmare and so was PT although that's just about sorted for it's first release. From there we will expand the functionality based on demand.

I have a pile of emails from people wanting their DAW supported so its one at a time

Same applies to "Live" - My original idea was to do them alphabetically and so Audition was first cab off the rack - I shouldn't have put Live under "L"

2 problems:-

1. As I understand it the clever sausages (or is that paranoid shysters?) at PT encrypted their session files from v5.1 to v7ish.
The German cracking crew (or equivalent I guess) broke the code (SSL whatever) and were quickly bought out by ProConvert
PT in their effort to stifle competition and to stop anyone escaping from their evil clutches changed the encryption algorithm from v8 and dropped the price of their already overpriced converter to below that of ProConvert. I guess if you are going to take out the competition then don't muck around.

My Enigma machine hasn't worked in quite a while but lets not discount a v7 or v8 but realistically $39 or even $99 ain't gonna cut the effort - although I wouldn't mind being bought out by somebody (hello anyone listening?)

Late breaking news!

We just converted a PT5 session to Audition, Reaper, Samplitude, Cubendo, Vegas etc etc.

A few things to add yet but an AATranslator with PT support is not far away now.

I gotta be happy with that

Pro Tools 5??? Not trying to troll or anything, but why bother with that? Is anybody on Earth using version 5 any more? Or is just kind of a "one-version-at-a-time" kind of thing, where you will slowly and steadily make your way to current versions?

You probably didn't notice the post above where I mentioned that the paranoids at PT encrypted their session files from v5.1 to v7!

They don't want their precious users getting away from the fold not unless they pay PT a huge amount of $$$$.

Once the encryption algorithm was cracked PT quickly countered with a more cunning and harder encryption algorithm which no-one not even ProConvert has cracked yet.

So its no longer a matter of working out what the zeroes & ones are its a matter of finding the damn things.

For $800 a copy its not worth trying to crack the algorithm. It takes weeks to work these things out WITHOUT encryption.

Me - I don't use PT and hate the idea of users being held to ransom so if there is some small way I can undermine .....

Gotcha. Screw Digi, anyway. You guys have a nice list of formats already. (Although as mentioned above, Live would be killer.)
