Im registered to Cubase.net ....... but to say i really dont like that forum is an understatment.
Im not the only registered Steinberg member to totally shun that forum.
Some feel sooooo strongly about this that they created their own alterantive version of the site, Cubendo.com.
Lockheart, normally your assumptions would have had some grain of truth in it, but, in this case, there is a pretty good reason for the Mass Exodus of cubase users from their native forum.

lol! I always thought that Cubendo.com was just a mirror for Cubase.net, I'd never bothered to check it out. Didn't realise it was a seperate forum altogether.
Hah, that might be an alternative to the lifeless Gormenghastian halls of the Cubase.net forums...

Bah, Cubendo is just as much of a wasteland than Cubase. Maybe better attitudes, but not any more participation than Cubase.net.
I personally am registered at various company forums for products I own, but don't tend to post on them very often. I do check them, but participating in conversations at ten different forums just takes too much time. I mainstly restrict myself to posting here just to keep the mess to as little as possible. One forum to keep up with instead of jumping around. When I have some free time, I occasionally post at Cubase.net or wherever, but in general, I ask my questions here.

I wouldn't say that I'm upset with cubase.net. I just don't see enough additional value to post there too often. I do get some good info by reading there sometimes, and the mods do chime in fairly often. They have also stated that they read every thread and take note of every request. So it's always good to see what is being discussed. Then there are the frequent whiners who find every reason to not like something, mixed in with a few kind souls who know their stuff. But in general, it's nothing I can't get here if needed.hibidy wrote:I'm always pleased to see that I'm not the only one who is upset with cubase.not
Anyways...........
I will say that it's much better over there than when I used to frequent there a long time ago, likely due to the dongle registration as part of your profile.

I only visit Cubase.net if I have a problem (which is rare) or to check on updates or see if there is any news...To me that's really the only function it should have in the first place..It never seemed to me to be a place to hang around..
I'm always amazed to see people on forums dedicated to one piece of software that have 1000's of posts..Seems to me they spend more time talking about their software than using the damn thing!..

AFAICT they have really improved their act in the customer care department.hibidy wrote: Until they tell you your dongle reg is invalid.....ja, das gestapo is alive and vell![]()
And it could be worse - certain companies will tell you that your PC computer is suddenly invalid, that your audio hardware is invalid because its made by another company, or that you have used up your limited number of times to unlock the software ... Steinberg seems to me to have a much better approach than some.
You just have to look after your stuff, and if it goes wrong they will replace it - other than that you can use it as much as you like and install the software on as many different computers as you wish, which seems pretty enlightened

Well, it's good to hear that it's better. It was about 2 years ago I had the "issue", but that person is still there, so I just stay away. Besides, I get better help here anyways.......headquest wrote:AFAICT they have really improved their act in the customer care department.hibidy wrote: Until they tell you your dongle reg is invalid.....ja, das gestapo is alive and vell![]()

I have no idea about the dongle part but the rest of your post has me a tad bit baffled. I have never heard of a person having a sustaining problem with any of those other problems. I'm not anti dongle at all as most know, but really that other stuff sounds more like embellishment than factual. I have never experienced anything like that with any music software I have, the closest was when I upgraded to AA1.5 and had to call to get my serial number for AA1. I remember it quite clearly, it took less than 5 minutes.headquest wrote:AFAICT they have really improved their act in the customer care department.hibidy wrote: Until they tell you your dongle reg is invalid.....ja, das gestapo is alive and vell![]()

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Perhaps you misunderstood, so I'll spell out the examples I had in mind:Hink wrote:I have no idea about the dongle part but the rest of your post has me a tad bit baffled. "certain companies will tell you that your PC computer is suddenly invalid" = Logic (after Apple acquired v.5, no further support to existing customers on PC)
"your audio hardware is invalid because it is made by another company" = Pro Tools if you change soundcard. EVEN if you change from Digidesign to supported M-Audio, because it requires a seperate software purchase to buy the same software!
"you have used up your limited number of times to unlock the software"... I saw a number of complaints about this on the Tracktion forum over the years. Ditto Ableton Live and IIRC Native instruments stuff. Generally these problems get resolved, but are inconvenient for a time at least.
Bottom line is that all these companies are after your/our money, and sometimes they "protect" their sales with policies of software protection, compatibility, etc which are kinda unfair to the (purchasing) end user. Steinberg are probably no worse or better than the others, but their system seems for the most part to work and be fair.
