I think it could work, if it would only import the supported dates from a midi file to Catanya, like in FL Studio ... A good example for midi import function in an arp you can see in z3ta (79$ ! ) or hypersonic! But you are right, Catanya seems to be only an arpreggiator but with it's basic functions it is disputable whether it is worth to buy it. If somebody needs a midi file player he can decide between many hosts to do that and don't need an extra plugin for that. And that's the same with an arpreggiator plugin. The most VST plugs have an arp on board. (z3ta, nexus, albino, predator, vanguard, zebra, alchemy, surge ... ) And some of them you can use as an insert fx with the arp, too.

So I think, with it's great surface Catanya could be a good complete tool to combine all this functions together in one plugin and with a midi file integration in the Catanya Browser it could be apply as a midi file playback tool, too ... In FL Studio for example you can't listen to a midi file from the browser so for a FL Studio user this could be the selling point if it would possible

And the questions is, why should I buy a basic arp? Or, what are it's specifics?

And sorry my english is not the best, I'm from germany :D

So it is now available to BUY full version.

Is it possible to download the manual first to study?

You can purchase the FULL Version. I did! Absolutley couldnt resist! Been looking for exactly this since XMAS.

I did not receive a Manual yet but no doubt they will release one in due course. :)

Well ok Aloysius - we are waiting for your report on Catanya first!

I plan to do a bit more wait and see approach before i buy it. I spent £50 last month on Midi Madness and imo it was money wasted. This time, i'll hear what people have to say first.

Check out the DEMO and see how you get on! I found it quite simple to get to grips with, but then again, I sometimes have trouble with the easiest things, so that's probably not an accurate scale.

I have some beautiful stereo piano samples. I play guitar and know enough about theory etc . . . but I can't play the piano. Love the sound though!

With a combination of Improvisator, I can generate beautifully crafted, authentic piano chords/harmonic progressions, and then use Cantanya to do the playing.

There are many possibilities.

Just at the moment, I am using some simple chords. My keyboard is about two foot long! :) Then I get Cantanya to make something interesting of my efforts. Then I can trigger a synth that already have a built in sequence, and see what comes out the other end!

I think it looks beautiful. It's easy to use. And is dirt cheap! :D

I just noticed that, too. Mind you, I never mastered ERA to the point of comfort. Is Eloquence gonna be simpler?

Jury's still out on Catanya. Why rush it out with so many suggestions about improvements left hanging? Must be a money thing...

I know. What's up with that? - Orbit-50

Has anyone tried the demo?

The timing seems too mechanical, maybe it needs a swing adjustment? The different "grooves" seem to be about the varying the velocity, not the timing.

Am I missing something?

But it is far more advanced than your average arpeggiator.

Is Catanya really that bad?

Anyone else used the full version yet? Thoughts etc....
