I'd go with DC as well as that is becoming my drum VST of choice.

Thanks for supporting DC. Actually, though I have to admit that the free kit is an experiment as is this poll. If we don't see at least 100 votes for DC (or hot sales on the existing kits we have which are only $15 each!) then that may be IT for DrumCore support from us. It all depends on you DrumCore and KitCore users! At the very least, we need to see people RAVING about that free Ocean Way Drum kit (which to me sounds like the best kit I've heard in that format... but that's my opinion and a few others around here... the fact that it is FREE - it's the ultimate test of people's interest!!!!! Get it while you can. It will not even be offered forever. We might take it down at the end of the month or at some point not long after).doobopuk wrote:I'd go with DC as well as that is becoming my drum VST of choice.
Those of you on the Submersible forum should try to get them to come over here and vote. This is your chance to get some really premium quality sound support for a fun format. Remember that past this there's the possibility of Neil Peart's kit, Billy Cobham, Rod Morgenstein, a vintage Terry Bozzio kit and all sorts of other incredible sounding kits. But, I'm tellin' ya it ain't gonna happen just because we want to this time! We can't do everything so we're going by demand.
When we release Neil Peart in BFD2 this month (okay, maybe next month... I have a session with Nick R and maybe Neil as well next week which is the final mixing stage and midi testing - we're trying to wrap that one up!) we will be VERY interested to see what the response is from BFD2 users. This is one of the best sounding kits I've heard in any format. It will also eventually be available for the Infinite Player but we're curious if people want great kits from Sonic Reality in BFD2 format and there is no better test than releasing a fantastic product as your first one! The follow up to that is going to be a faithful recreation of the "Collins Kit" a la "In The Air Tonight" and Gabriel's 3rd record (Intruder, No Self Control) - as close as we could get using the same mics with Hugh Padgham in a stone room at Genesis' studio. Not a bad follow up to Peart. I hope BFD2 users will be happy with it!
On top of that we have an amazing drum refill coming for Reason VERY soon. Plus a FREE Ocean Way Drum Kit 10m Refill - that's coming next. It is one of the best sounding kits I've ever heard in Reason and to think that it is going to be free... well, we're excited about the concept! If the response is good (ie. people talking about it all over the place and at least voting in here) then we may just do an Ocean Way Drums Refill. We'll see! Again, we're doing it by DEMAND so if you demand that we do it then get 100 people just like yourself to rally for it and we may just do it!

Any possibilty of the free Ocean Way 10m kit that loads in the new Kontakt Player getting an activation code in order to try it in actual projects and not in just demo mode? It sounds great by the way.

You CAN try it out in a project in demo mode. If you don't save your mix you can shut it down and start it back up and it will continue to work. Yeah, that's a pain but it's the limitation of NI's Kontakt Player. If enough people asked them to make that kit work in Kontakt Player FREE like their content does we'd be happy to do it. Again, all based on demand! Are people buzzing about it on the NI forums? If so then show us. We're curious to see the demand for such a thing! How MUCH does one want third party sound support like this or even FREE sounds? That is the question. Sonic Reality is one of the few sound companies left that enjoys supporting the formats that musicians choose to use for their music (as opposed to only doing its own plug-ins like most sound developers now do - we still do both!). But, of course, we have limited resources and only so much time in the day so besides the final touches on Studiophonik (which is only delayed because I am doing it myself and I am the busiest one here... notice I post at 11pm, 3am... I breathe samples!) we have these various possibilities of supporting other formats with drums starting with the possibility of a FREE Ocean Way Drum kit - as long as there's enough demand.sergevoluminous wrote:Any possibilty of the free Ocean Way 10m kit that loads in the new Kontakt Player getting an activation code in order to try it in actual projects and not in just demo mode? Maybe we'll just do it anyway like in the case of DC and Reason. Or maybe we'll wait and see if enough people want it bad enough to simply vote? Or email us? We're going to have a suggestion box on the new web site, updated surveys... we want to know what the real demand is before we decide to do yet another mountain of work on top of our mountains of work. The hardest part was doing the sampling sessions and editing though. Now that we have such awesome sounding material from Drum Masters to Ken Scott Collection to Ocean Way Drums to Neil Peart to Hugh Padgham to... even more than that - believe me we WANT drum plug-in and sampler users to be able to enjoy these sounds! They're one of a kind.
But, it's up to you guys. Good luck! We're here to support those that speak up the most about what they want! Rally the troops. Battle of the formats has begun! Haha.

DrumCore/KitCore wins for me but SampleTank would be a close second

I voted Battery but having a Drumagog version would be nice as well... Dunno how well it would work tho.
A guy with serious GAS and lots of unused VSTs. But if I someday need them...

I voted for reason because I own it. I'd be interested in hearing high quality samples being played back through it.
My other votes that weren't on the list would be for:
Guru
Jamstix2
Kontakt is my main acoustic drum sampler though but I would love to have Ocean Way kits in these other formats.

I voted BFD2 as I feel that would probably be the easiest transition, however I would LOVE to see them available for Addictive Drums. They are doing amazing things to accommodate edrummers, and it may very well be end-up being the ultimate drum VST for edrums.
Cheers.

Why is that? What specifically is great that it is doing for edrums? I'm curious.algodon wrote:I voted BFD2 as I feel that would probably be the easiest transition, however I would LOVE to see them available for Addictive Drums. It'd be nice to have a convolution impulse of that stone room over at Genesis' studio wouldn't it? How about Mark Knopfler's studio? How about Rob Thomas's studio including echo chambers? (Drum Masters 1.5 may just have a little something like that...)kiezum wrote:I vote for kontakt. And I hope you use the build-in KSP and the convolution reverb.
Anyway, if you vote for Kontakt then you're in luck! It already IS in Kontakt! Ocean Way Drums Expandable Player uses Kontakt Player which of course also means it is a Kontakt library (and the code for the player you could call an "unlock code" to be able to use it in full Kontakt if you have it and if you don't have it then it operates just as a player with limited editing).
We also have the Infinite Player which again is a Kontakt Player product that is expandable with other Sonic Reality sounds... including DRUM MASTERS. But, this update to 1.5 is really serious. I'm not sure if you guys are ready for it!

I voted for DrumCore since I like the idea of what they're doing. I don't actually own it, though. I would have voted for Kontakt, but that's not necessary! And probably my second vote would've been for Jamstix, which is a very cool program that I don't think gets enough love... Ocean Way Drums for Jamstix would be a huge boon for Rayzoon and for musicians in general.
