that is just so wrong; funny, but wrongCoil wrote:Squids wrote:Okay, one last one. There may be a physical component. Also a quantum physical component.

PDF explaining the full patent is available here:Title:
Method for producing soundtracks and background music tracks, for recreational purposes in places such as discotheques and the like
United States Patent 6404893
Abstract:
A method for producing soundtracks and background music tracks, for recreational purposes, in places such as discotheques and the like, comprising the steps of:
combining together a plurality of sounds taken from a plurality of groups of sounds, each group grouping mutually compatible sounds, so as to obtain combinations of sounds; and
arranging in a given sequence the combinations of sounds, so as to obtain a composition of sounds in which duration and volume can be adjusted by the user.

It looks like it's some form of music-production beatbox machine crossed with auto-arrangement (band-in-a-box) algorithms. Like a 21st century attempt of the yamaha/casio one chord arragement keyboards - though the business-speak in the patent PDF is really hard going and makes the most blindingly obvious features sound shiny and new fangled (though I guess every possible avenue has to be stressed in order to uniquely define the patent).
I think the nearest practical thing I can compare based on reading the PDF, is Koan, the brian eno software suite - though hopefully, with more advanced architecture and the ability to use it beyond elevator music/musak genres.
Apologies to Squids/IK if I managed to let the cat out of bag, but patents are easily obtainable - happens all the time in the games industry. One final thing - I noticed it dates back to 2002 - so how many irons do IK have in the fire?
