Hi there,

my stuff grows from day to day and I use to just add it to any of the categories either in alphabetic or chronologic order. One day I'll sort it and make one uniquely sorted download page, but until then you have to search it a little bit.

On the other hand you might find other useful stuff in between. It happens to me all the time ;-)

I hope this is not too harsh but Christian, is there any of your more esoteric creations, like the oversampling thing and the splitter plugin that actually work?

I've kind of given up trying some of your more interesting things because 9 times out of 10 they simply make any host go poof! :?

For instance, on this HP Laptop, running Windows Vista I can not get the oversampler nor splitter to work and of course the noname EQ with overampling enabled went bananas as well.

The Splitter actually kind of works but it creates a HUGE gui of the selected plugin and then steals the mouse/screen when you try to select the way the plugin is split using the drop down list. As soon as one in some miraculous way gets the mouse back to control the DAW or other programs, the plugin goes poof and DAW crashes.

I'm very hesitant to try your plugins due to their almost certain failure. I think the only plugin I ever got working correctly was the original Noname EQ release and the TinyEQ. Everything else has at least some problems with mostly crash bugs.

Is there a log or dump file or something that can be sent to you to help find the crashes when they occur?

Your software has some unique twists and a lot of potential so keep up the interesting plugin development!

Cheers!

Wait...is that the faint, seductive scent of fresh, hot popcorn? No...must be my imagination. I hope. :)

Regarding the fact that some of my plugins are not working. It is related to the bug report system I use which hooks the DAW/library, which results in a crash whenever there's any exception inside the DAW (even if it is handled by the DAW in normal cases).

The bug has been fixed some time ago, but I don't have a proper internet connection since about two month now (using my mobile phone). For most of my plugins there's a version available where you can turn off that "feature". Once it has been disabled everything should work.

On the other hand most stuff still needs some updates (most of all my non-open source plugins).

Concerning the Splitter/Oversampler the problem is more difficult as it is not only the DAW that can lead to problems, but also the hosted plugins. For example no SynthEdit/SynthMaker plugin will work. The bug has been reported, but I have got only one response so far.

Concerning the other plugins, just tell me what particular plugin you want to have fixed and I can do this. It's just so slooowww to upload with my current connection...

Kind regards,

Christian

PS: Advice for all german readers, never move houses when you have been connected by a particular provider (the one with two "1"s), even if the new house is only about 500 meters away! First they will tell you that it is absolutely no problem and then you are 3 month without any connection (no internet, no phone!).

Do you want bug reports over email or is this thread sufficient? I wasn't running any Synthmaker/Synthedit plugins in the oversampler nor splitter. I ran Sonalksis EQ (which is completely rock solid on all systems I've ever tried) and The Glue (not sure how solid this one is as I don't have that much experience with it yet).

The mouse issue is the strangest one in the splitter. Your plugin literally "steals" the mouse. No matter where I click on the screen, the mouse only changes plugin parameters. It's very strange and quite frustrating. :)

tried the oversampler on the sonalksis eq as well. did not work. all the parameters were grayed out and the values were also at their minimum values(not the default ones). it was a pain in the a**

I prefer emails.

However, make sure you have downloaded the latest version (from today).

Then keep in mind, that this type of plugin is extremely difficult since it actually "hosts" the other plugin (in contrast to the other approach by Chris Walton, where the plugin was just redirected and still hosted by the real host).

So in this case it might be a) the interaction between the template plugin and the original host or between the virtual host and the oversampled plugin. As for SynthEdit/SynthMaker, both do not support these kind of virtual host and I can bet other plugins might behave similar. On the other hand they simply don't run (rather than these strange behaviours).

This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

now i have another problem. with oversampling turned on the filter frequency is shifted one octave(higher oversampling = higher shift) to the right. this ain't right is it?

Post

P.S. it also crashes xlutop chainer

Unfortunately I wasn't really able to use the oversampler either. I tried it with Albino 3 but Cubase 5 just wasn't having any of it, it would either take an age to load, or just freeze cubase completely. I got it working once on a new project but, loading one with it in just killed it.
Ah well thanks anyways :)

No this is not right. For some reason the new (shifted) sampling rate was not transmittet to the plugin.

I'll have a look at that. Is there any freeware plugin you tested, that I can check here as well? So far I have mostly tested my own plugins with it. Also I only tested it in the hosts I got here with my current computers. It's possible that there is something different, as I haven't seen any crash anymore since that bug in the bug report system got fixed and I wonder what it might be.

If anyone is really interested to fix these bugs. Please contact me with details via email,

Christian

Hi there,

I just tried to load an oversampled instance of chainer in chainer and it worked without any problem here:

I wonder what might be the problem?

Btw. have you tried to use the standalone application to create the oversampled plugin? The reason is, that in some cases the shell extension doesn't get unregistered properly and thus you were still using the old version.

Kind regards,

Christian
