Hi guys.

I have just tried that new Antress' 1176LN compressor and it sounds really great. That man has done another major step in his vst career. :hihi: You should try it too, it is seriously good stuff.

Congratulations, Antress! Now give us also some real emulation of LA-2A.

Thanks for this wonderful free plug.

It puts out huge amount of weird low frequency content (DC?) in Reaper at 192khz.

Works fine at 44,1 though. I haven't got an UAD card anymore, but from what I remember it's not worse than their emulation.

Not too mention that it sounds nothing like an 1176.

Really?..i think that it's really really similar to the uad software version... ... at least as similar as waves 1176 is to uad 1176( )...

...so for you should be really simple pick up UAD and Waves processed files from these four files...

Antress Sevent Sign vs Uad 1176: UAD is A or B?

ok its good reel good! Antress got this one right

alteregoxxx: I don't know either and have no idea which is which, but B sounds better in both examples. Anyway, such a low threshold and long release is uninteresting for comparison.

I think the UAD is 1b

I think the Waves is 2a

Those are the 2 that I liked.

thx for sharing

I think you are right. But I will probably never get hold of Waves or UAD, so I am really happy about this one.

...1176 has no threshold...only input...long release:?:the pumping due to the short release time is quite obvious for me...in other words the release is at minimum... :) ..so why those settings should be uninteresting for comparison:?:

[Polemic mode on]
The "graphical settings" on the Waves (second couple of files) and Uad (first couple of files) are the same:!: :!: :!:

Input -18
Output -18
Ratio 4:1
attack 7 (minimum)
release 7 (minimum)

...but they sound absolutely not the same:!: :!: :!: ...so we can end up saying that or Waves or UAD "souns nothing like an 1176"...right??

So i had to set SeventSign to emulate those two different sounds that come from the same settings :hihi: ...

by the way the AntressSeventSign "graphical settings" for the two matching are closer in the UAD case and not so close in the Waves case...

so...i think that if SeventSign was from Wxves or [PutBigCompaniesNameHere] nobody would have said "Not too mention that it sounds nothing like an 1176"...had spoken of colors and shades...like a painting by Van Gogh...

Knob positions on the analogue units varies a lot. Considering an emulation "accurate" just because of knob positions is pretty silly.

Anyhow, I really like this 1176 of Antress. It has some weird behavior that has nothing to do with the original unit, like the constant compression, no matter what input you drive it with and the low output gain, but it's still a very good compressor in it's own right.

Cheers!

I haven't this problem with my single track signal's levels...but you're right when you put SeventSign on the master bus...

a part from the input and the output do you think that SeventSign is similar to UAD?

I haven't listened to your demos yet nor do I have the UAD here at home so I can't tell yet. It definitely has that 1176 character. Not worse but I can't call it better either. I'm also using the softube FET compressor and have FabFilter Pro-C too. They all do their own take on the 1176 sound.. oh and we have a hardware clone in the studio as well. :D

I'd say if one doesn't have an UAD or any other option yet it would be smart to try out this Antress version first and see if you really need another one that costs serious cash. It's that good, imho.

Cheers!

FWIW I shot it out against a hardware 1176 yesterday and it didn't fare worse than other plugins.
