Waldorf Edition runs well on Vista.

Vista is fine unless you have an older system. 95-99% of plugins will work. The only issue is having to run certain vst's setup's in 'run as administrator' mode, or having to turn the UAC feature off upon install and product licensing of a plugin.

It's true the first version of Vista released was buggy and was missing drivers. But after the first Service Pack on up, Vista is actually rock solid compared to XP. And Windows 7 is not much more than a 1-2 Service Pack upgrade from Vista. So it should work just as well, in theory.

Thanks losan, that did indeed work!

(The "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft \Windows\CurrentVersion]
"ProductID"="xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx" one)

Yes I searched these forums but I saw some posts indicating that only the Steinberg release had this problem, not the Waldorf.

Now, the only problem is that Cubase Studio 5 64-bit suck with 32-bit plugins and the vst bridge. On to reading about jbridge...

In case anyone Googles this for Windows 7 you'll notice that, as described, it isn't the same as Vista. For Windows 7, use regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsof t \Windows\CurrentVersion

Then choose Edit. New String Value. Title it ProductID. In the value field, put the product id
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
replace the x's with your WindowsXP product id.

Worked for me in Windows 7 first time.
Even I was offended by what I was going to put here.

I have Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium. When I go to the registry editor the structure is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Rpc. I don't have the Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion subdirectory.... Why??? Is there a different place to put that string?

Please let me know if you know. I would really love to use the PPG again. I have it on a WinXP desktop but wanted to put it on my Win7 laptop.

Thanx for the info :)
I just installed my old Steinberg PPG on Win 7 Home Premium 64 and it works!

For pedrosura: There's no "RPC" mention in the correct Registry String,
Chemik's info is correct. You've selected "RPC" instead of
"Windows" :wink:

Morphbay,

That is my problem... I don't have that Windows/subdirectory I just have RPC. Why don't I have that windows subdirectory? That's why I can not find it...
Do you know? It's not that I am trying to install in the wrong place. I just don't see that \windows\currentversion subdirectory

Never mind. The permissions were set wrong and it wasn't allowing me to see the subdirectories. Gotit. Thanks

Morphbay,

Actually, I just realized a big problem. When you make that modification the computer thinks you are now a different computer with XP loaded and it screws up other installations like the CS-80 from Arturia and others if they check for the computer and OS that installed it. I guess I'll wait for a new installer from Waldorf.

Hi,
I checked my other plugins with this Registry entry:
-old Arturia V1 plugins just need to have the CD inserted once, V2 that
use Syncrosoft Key are ok
-I had to enter my SN for Cameleon 5000 and Novation V-Station
All other plugins are working (Syncrosoft, I-lok, IK, AAS, AAR, UAD, Steinberg, Alchemy etc)
Hope this helps

Why don't you just insert your actual Win 7 Product-ID instead ?
There's no need to insert a XP-Product-ID to make the Installation happen.

I installed Komplexer (same Copy protection as the Waldorf stuff) on Vista 64bit this way. No probs here.

Really....? I thought it was XP. I'll try that.... I'll report back

No. It doesnt work. It has to be a Win XP key :(

Ok, just to make sure, you didn't misunderstood me...

You didn't changed the XP-product-ID to the Win 7-Product-ID in the registy after the installation, didn't you ?

Instead you changed it before the installation via CD !

If you did it this way, and it doesn't work, then the Waldorf Edition
behaves definitely different against the Komplexer installation.

Or has the string length of the Product-ID changed since Win 7 eventually ?
