Oh bloody hell Max! Its late on this little badly divided island! And you ask questions?
I need my bed more than the remainder of the lager at my side! But the lager is nearer, and the bed is more easily available than the answers you require!

.. Oh but, while I'm still here, I just want to reassure you that when I say your synth is 'cracking' .... that is high praise! ... not a complaint!

Max, a toombi, or tumbi is a one string instrument used in bhangra.
The 12 string mandolin is 4 triple strings .... The acoustic mandolin from the junk shop was an old Italian 12 string, the body of which was on the point of collapse due to the tension of said 12 strings. So having a 12 string neck, all I had to do was build a solid body to fit, make a bridge, and add the pickups, socket and wiring.... so it wasn't very difficult at all.

OK, mine is now up - the cheerily named Summer Stalker.
As I'm on a Mac, most of the Felix sounds and riffs were sampled from two instances running in Bidule in a Parallels virtual machine. Trying to get the latency down, I installed ASIO4All drivers, but the virtual machine didn't like those so much, at least not with Soundflower (so that I could get the audio back into Live). But I sampled the glitched-up sounds anyway and a few of those made it into the track.
I couldn't get Felix to run inside Wacvst, which would have cut the latency significantly - this might be a problem for SynthEdit-based plug-ins as the emulator seems to choke on the SEM modules that the plug-in created. It's a shame as there is a lot of tweakability in Felix the synth. Maybe one day I'll set aside some space to run BootCamp so that I can use the laptop as a Windows-based sound module when only a WIndows VSTi will do.

Anyway, back on topic ... one of my cats has taken advantage of the fact I'm culturing some award winning haemorroids on this computer chair, and has entirely taken up the four seater sofa! ( how do they do that?? ) ... but she deserves it having stood up for herself in a noisy scrap with the local bully cat ( who used to be a nice puss! ) ... my other cat is either still out sniffing the local greenery for news, or might be on my bed doing an impression of a dead prawn!
