Minimal version

It would be nice if it was possible to have a really tiny version with just the plugin loader, no toolbar strip or keyboard, but everytime I delete the keyboard it pops up again the next time I load the project and not having the main toolbar doesn't seem to be an option.

It is possible now to make it not absolutely "tiny", but smaller than standard. Minimize the ribbon after right-clicking in it. You don't make it clear whether you have already done that. That minimizing leaves only a narrow strip of editable toolbar. No further reduction is possible for the toolbar, but it is a reasonable size in that state.
Then, close the keyboard pane and anything else you don't want to see. Save that session to use as your default. Then be sure to designate it in OPTIONS - STARTUP as the session to display when starting up in future.
If those measures don't yield enough reduction, minimize the whole thing to zero size and run it out of the Windows system tray or the task bar.

I didn't know about minimising the ribbon - that helps - but it doesn't get saved in the session and neither does the size - just what modules are loadedlallis wrote:It is possible now to make it not absolutely "tiny", but smaller than standard. Odd to hear. My ribbon in the Solo version reappears minimised if saved that way in a session.aMUSEd wrote: ...minimising the ribbon - that helps - but it doesn't get saved in the session and neither does the size
The overall window size simply remains the same until changed. It stays as it was left, independent of the session.
Maybe just continue to explore the settings -- discovery by accident is as likely a route to success as any.
There's surely something I am failing to mention, or don't realize. Maybe a cleverer person will come to the rescue.

No like size it appears independent of the session - if I have it minimised it stays minimised even when I reopen it but once I have unminimised it it also stays like that. Size and layout really should be saved with the session so you can have different setups for different synths/effects (even windows position ideally - eXT can do that).lallis wrote:Odd to hear. Ah. You are correct, of course. I invariably leave the ribbon minimised, so I wrongly came to believe it was appearing that way because it had been saved so. Sorry.
Personally, I don't care which way it works. The ribbon is seldom necessary; if you customise your toolbar by putting the commonly-used icons there, I rarely need to see the ribbon, so it just stays off. That should be practical for many ways of working, because it's utterly easy to click tabs of the ribbon on occasion to adjust something.
I see your point that it would be good to have the size of the overall GUI savable, if your sessions vary much in form. Mine (piano player) do not.
Brad has already shown interest in making the GUI less "fiddly". These items may catch his attention, and likely he's already been thinking about them.
