I don't know if anyone's taking suggestions, but I'd pay to hear this.

how much are you paying?!
i love chimera. a very original and different sounding synth. it's also one of the few synthedit synths without the multicore bug so thats a definite plus. i may well do a chimera only track in the near future just to fully explore its capabilities

No objections, but it's up to all the other OSCers. Suggestions are always welcome, and its OK to post these in the current OSC thread at any time
The current situation is that we will consider Maxsynth's Galileo when the current comp ends, and if max has it ready, then thats what we'll do. Otherwise, I have a list compiled of all synths suggested to date which I will post. I'll add Chimera to that list, and if you guys push for it, and persuade others around, then there's every chance we will go for it!
But if you cant face waiting, and want to run a Chimera comp, then good luck with it! I'll certainly support it
It's not particularly difficult, you just have to be around and make sure the thread stays active, and make sure you have your rules set out clearly from the off!
I dont mind if you cut'n'paste the rules from previous comps to suit, and I would strongly advise the 'one upload folder for all entries' approach ... I can even open a folder for you if you want.
Otherwise, be patient, a chimera comp will surely come around, enjoy the other synths in the meantime, and submit your tracks! Theres still 12 days to submit a track using the excellent 'Felix' ... a synth that all participants have enjoyed so far.

I've added a link to this thread in the OSC7-Felix thread.
You could bolster your case by posting a link here to chimera

i wouldn't want to tread on your toes tattiemannie. you are the man for that around here. you have a way of keeping the energy and enthusiasm of the comp rolling that i'm not sure i could do so well
my summer holiday is turning into a dissertation filled one anyway so not much time for the OSC's at the moment
i was blown away by some of the felix entries btw - i was listening to them yesterday evening. two in particular really got me thinking about sound design in general and how wonderfully endless it all is. autechre managed about 10 years worth of amazingly innovative material from pretty much just a nord lead as a sound source - i was thinking of restricting myself to just synth1 as a sound source for all sounds within my next album - either playing patches directly using a keyboard or using them more abstractly by sampling them to twist and mangle up. your comps have certainly got me thinking

Oh, the suffering
I tried a couple dozen presets from the Largo demo last night, then went back and tried some Synth1 sounds, Largo is impressive, and fine for what it is, but will never unseat the king of the legends. If stuck on a desert island, or a studio, I'd take Synth 1 and a few decent freeware fx apps over any of the admittedly great + $100 competition. Komplete can just sit there on the shelf in Berlin gathering dust as far as I'm concerned, even though the end-of-life version sold out when the big price cut fell from the sky
Anybody here friends with Nolwenn? I love her sound designs, and hope she is working in the industry somewhere...would be nice to have a comp using only sounds she released for free synthesizers

hehe there wouldn't be any suffering!glokraw wrote: Oh, the sufferingnot counting the 2K collection of Nord Lead patches, there is around 3k worth of other patches, a thousand of which come from pro, or pro quality designers

I saw this thread a couple of weeks ago but forgot to reply to it. I just wanted to say that you have my blessing if you choose to do a Chimera-compo. It's something that'd really put a smile to my face.
In case anyone's curious there's actually a small story behind Chimera. I made a song using only noise generators several years ago. It worked the same way Chimera does but everything was done manually. In other words I automated volume and frequency for dozens of bandpass filters to create melodies and harmonies.
I liked the result and some of the sounds but realized I'd never take the time to do something similar again. So I decided to create Chimera.
Here's the song that eventually gave birth to Chimera. It's based on a song by an old friend. Everything is running in realtime, no samples were used in the song:

http://www.majken.se/mp3/majken-in-the-clouds.mp3i'm very glad you wrote it as we wouldn't have chimera otherwise! it's a great track btw. i will eventually get round to doing an all chimera track (hopefully within an OSC using chimera)
One of the reasons I love Chimera so much is that it produces sounds that remind me of the ICO sound track:
Ghostly, ethereal, and utterly different to anything else.
