The i7's are in the new Mac Pro's now?!

Yes, the i7 is the "Nehalem" processor architecture, and the top of the line 2009 Mac Pro uses the i7 Extreme Edition.

I've been wondering if Synth Squad can max out even these very latest CPU's. Sounds like the answer is yes, at higher oversampling rates ... although as Andrew pointed out these modes are really included for off-line rendering rather than live use.

My first generation CoreDuo is looking rather tired these days

Here's a quick tip for people using Logic 9 with SynthSquad:

When you have the "analogue" dial turned up, do -not- do a bounce in place with the record tail option enabled. As the analogue dial generates noise, among other things, the bounce will never end as Logic will keep thinking that the plug is generating sound.

I've done this a few times now and have had to force quit Logic and lose my work :S

It actually sucks because you can never bounce in place with a legitimate tail using synth squad, unless you make your region large enough to make sure you get it all initially…

Hi Timothy,

Please try this workaround for now:

1. Use the Amp Env as a TransMod source
2. Modulate the Analogue control with in the Amp Env TransMod slot (from initial value of 0 to the required amount)

This will result in the Analogue noise only being engaged when the synth is active. Hope this helps.

i hope that there will be loads of new (affordable) patch banks soon... the factory presets are somewhat disappointing. i mean they are globally good, but one feels that these synths could do so much more.

D-Cam can get much deeper than your average analog synth from back in the day though...

I dunno...it seems like quite a few people must have just sat in front of their keyboards staring at them blankly? Being incapable of making your own noise on a synth makes it pretty difficult using something like an MS20...


having said that, I sit and stare at my own keyboards blankly quite regularly, but it's nothing to do with presets...

In some cases, the manuals they came with had "presets" printed on paper at the back.. diagrams of the knob settings to get a particular sound. I know my SH-101 did...

I'm running synth squad on an old P4 2.8Ghz. If I keep the polyphony to a minimum (1-4 voices), I don't have an issue using any of the synths. Although, I haven't tested Fusor out yet, which I predict will max out my cpu with layers of synth.
