I made a submission, humble as it is. But my MP3 is 1:19, and it's 1:12 when uploaded to 4shared. I uploaded twice and then realized I can't delete. Frustrating and embarrassing.
In any event, here is my info:
Track "Awakened By Cats" By James Of Tucson
Humbly released to public domain, 2009
I wanted to make an entry into the "One Synth Challenge" but I have always
either put it off too long or else tried too hard and ended up with nothing.
Here I have modified thirteen patches in Felix, and played an improvisation.
This is how I played each track with no edits at all. I think I ended up with five instances of Felix. I used a "Moog Timpani" patch that I really like, and I thank you for introducing me to this synth.
Host: FLStudio 8.5 beta
FX: MDA Leslie, DubDelay, and Dynamics; Kjaerhus Classic Reverb and Autofilter.
Elottronix XL on the shaker.

Wow, this is so very 60's! I hope we'll actually go ahead with the album thing 'cause I'd really like to have this track without the abrupt interruption...
Nice!

I just uploaded my entry. I've been meaning to enter one of these for a while and I ended up with an extra couple hours tonight. The mix sounds pretty assy but i'm not used to using freeware stuff to mix.

Wow! Thanks for the submissions guys
James Otucsun, if you want to reup your track, then no probs ... I can delete the current version if you want ... just gimme a shout and tell me what you want to do.
Mix, production, and track length are not really a major issue in One Synth comps guys, ... the doing, experimenting, learning, and sharing are what its all about
Mac, thanks for your input and feedback posts, .... there's no reason why we cant go ahead with the album, I assume everyone still has their track modules ready to render out to .wav. All we need then is a method of gathering them if everyone is interested
oh, and heres that hosting file link again.

Always an issue with the music "hosts" I've used. At the same time, I like the format of this site and the free download approach.Mac of BIOnighT wrote:I hate MP3s. Go to this page
http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/50627 and listen to what freakin' liquid shit my HHs have turned into (and this is only what's evident to those who don't know the originals, but the rest is equally f**ked up...)
I also heard some pretty cool stuff on a brief first visit to boot. Very unlike the unwieldy Myspace approach.
Maybe a Mouxbar virtual album release will be hitting the web soon
Cheers,

Dr. Quandry
A scene in a teledrama.
It's 4 AM. A Doctor is in a makeshift operating room in an abandoned basement.
Bombs are crashing outside. His patient is the leader of the resistance movement. The skull is open. The doctor suddenly realizes he has forgotten one precious reagent.
He looks to his left. A radioactive barrel has broken open and a tiny rivulet
washes by his feet. He sees a syringe and thinks "What have I got to lose?"
The music starts.
Conceived and recorded live (one take per track) in FLStudio 8.5 Beta
5 instances of Felix
Kjaerhus Classic Delay, Compressor, AutoFilter, Reverb, Phaser
MDA Leslie
Elottronix XL
Limited and converted to MP3 in Audacity
Humbly released to Public Domain, 2009, James of Tucson <nethack@cox.net>

Wow again! great stuff, that's 13 tracks in, and still a week to go!!
James O .. what would you like to do with that previous (double) submission?
do you want me to take out one of the versions? or both so you can re-up? You may have read that I dont listen to tracks til they're all in, ( for reasons explained in previous posts/threads), but I had a listen to your track ( both versions ) both appear to be all there, apart from the fact the end of the last note seems to cut off rather than fade.
Gimme a shout, I'll be around for the next couple of hours.

Hi Guys,
No offense to be given to Max here but I was wondering what we would do if the Galileo issues don't get laid to rest
If not, we don't have a VST to go to on the next installment at the moment
I had a thought on this anyway and thought of the Ensoniq thingy that sadly got binned. Something a bit digital and unusual in true OSC spirit...
And I came across GalactiX again and had a proper fiddle with it...
Seems to work fine, does that digital type sound plus a ton of others. Brilliant pad synth - I could go on (as ever
).
One dodgy review on Ableton 6 (multicore) at the moment which caused me to look at it again in the first place. Any multicore users out there want to try it and see if it is a possible
Or any views out there
OK, sorry if jumping the gun - Max has still got a few weeks left to see if he can help us out
Cheers,
Mouxbar

I was all in favour of doing one with Chimera, but I'm weird like that.slugfest99 wrote:Hi Guys,

Cheers for the input guys, as I said earlier, if Galileo isn't ready for the next comp, I have a list of all previous suggestions which I will post.
I think it's safe to say that there is a lot of enthusiasm for a Galileo comp, so the idea is not likely to to be dropped however long it takes for it to be made ready. So no pressure on Max, there are plenty of ideas around to keep us busy while we wait for Galileo.
The next comp will kick off in about 2 and a half weeks, so its not too soon to be discussing what our options are. Feel free to add any suggestions to the above, and I'll post my list before the closing date for submissions to the present comp. .... and dont panic, it's quite normal to be discussing the next 'one-synth' during the voting phase of the current comp

I like it a lot, too, but apparently the mp3 settings they chose are perfect for the super-compressed, hyper-maximized preoduction everybody but me seems to like nowadays, but when the volume is soft and there's no compressionat all - as is the case with my album - flaws and problems creep in in abundant numberslugfest99 wrote: Always an issue with the music "hosts" I've used. It's absolutely friendly compared to Myspace - but then, I've known sociopathic killers and rapers that were friendlier than myspace...slugfest99 wrote:I also heard some pretty cool stuff on a brief first visit to boot. Very unlike the unwieldy Myspace approach.
