do you know that effect? when u play a sample it will repeat 4 long time during the song: if u play a vocal sample saying "trick" the result will be: trick trick trick trick trick trick trick trick... (and so on) yes, the typical DNB delay :)
i'm search for that effect does anyone have some advices? (even commercial). i've tried mdsp analog delay. it is quite good for it, but i was searchin for something GREAT, something top notch.
this effect is very useful couze if u keep the delay going u can fade in and out the samples, and EQ it on the fly, even in a live stage. (the only problem i have with mdsp analog delay is that after about 30 seconds the samples gets some clips and pops on it and i need to feed down the volume, giving the delay a new input)

i guess i'm not the only one searching for that effect

Surely just a matter of finessing the feedback level on your delay unit? Or am I mnissing the point? (it does happen )

tweakbench maelcum is good for delays that take a loooooooong time to disappear off into the distance - try it.

a compressor after the delay can really help.
logic's tape delay has a freeze function, maybe other delays have one too.
if you want infinite repeats that you can process further, you might consider a looping delay or looper. this is the kind of thing guitarist use to jam with themselves.
good luck -g

Audio Damage Dubstation.

It's much better to keep the delay sound on a seperate FX track, you can then bring it in and out as you want and manipulate it further at will without effecting the track that's being delayed.

If you click on one of the links in my sig below, and open vst fx folder, you'll find a plug called 'Reprat' .... it does the freeze delay thing.

thanks a lot to all your suggestions! i will try them all and report all the results, it seems there are different ways to achieve te same thing!

cool, now i go to experiment :)

Post

so here are my results (on fl studio) :

- with the tb maelcum i can achieve what i need without much effort, it's simple and it do the job :) i think u can achieve an infinite delay with it! cool low cpu plug!!

- with a looper, i've tried with arachnid vsti (a pad sampler with the start/end function that is really useful if u need to loop only a part of the file)
so for do the trick i loaded the same file, one in the sequencer and one in the arachnid (i worked on the start/end) i play the sequencer's file without the last part, and immediately start the looped/delayed part in arachnid. now i can achieve somethin like (kinda vocal exhample) : "i'm on fire fire fire fire fire..."
sending a normal delay (fruity delay :D in the case) to the arachnid mixer channel i can achieve something like this: "i'm on fire f fire fire f fire f f fffire fire fire..."
kinda wild dub delay :) and the cool thing is that obviusly i can retrigger the loop/delay effect with everything, even with an fsu like supa trigga, dblue glich.. or whatever u can imagine, so now i got an infinite delay with infinite possibilities to be retriggered 8)

- i've tried also reprat but i wasn't able to do the trick with it, i don't completely understand how it works :D

hope this topic will help who need to know ho to go wild with delay fx

thank u everybody, see ya next time!

There are a few VSTs that will do this however, the majority won't know for they are more into rock music.

These are old free VSTs so the hype around these plug-ins are no more.

Arcdev Dubb Box

Arcdev Echotank II

Arcdev Echotank XL

Echomania

Looking at the 'fire f fire fffire' example you gave, I would suggest you dont need an effect, but to sample the word/phrase you want to repeat, and load it into a sample player. Then you can set the repeats as you wish, and add any effects necessary. :)

You can also play it on the fly, repitch it via the keyboard etc.

glad the looper worked for you ilkombo!
