You put the "P" in "PC". :P
Oh yeah? Wait, could "P" stand for perfect? If so, you're right. 8) :)

No, some people just aren't knocked off their perch so easily by something so trivial...I had no problem demoing this plug with the beep... It took me about 2 minutes to make a decision, but then again my blood wasn't boiling with anger at the inhumane inclusion of the cancer inducing beep so I was better able to focus on the task at hand instead of pissing about and wasting everyone's time like a ten year old girl....

Now you've ticked off the 10-year-girls. Pissing about indeed. Although, without having even heard it, I find the reaction to a beep every 15 seconds perhaps a tad over the top. The white noise that replaced it will likely irritate any number of people. I suppose the plug could have timed out after a minute or two with no intervening noise, but the resulting cries of indignation would have been equally loud and insistent.

He does seem in a rare foul mood. I bought this plug yesterday...didn't even bother with the demo. For $20? Pocket change. :)
I'm not in a foul mood, I just completely and utterly hate demos that have loud beeps or tones in them. Frankly I can not at all understand how anybody can "defend" this in any way shape or form. It's a simple matter of logics:

1) A beep makes equal harm to a mix when it's -70 to -40dFS as it does when it's -10 to 0dBFS, so why on earth make it so damn loud?

2) A beep can be a burst of noise in stead and it can be very short. Again, it doesn't matter how long or short or what type of noise it is, it is already doing enough harm to be effective even if it's just a few milliseconds long (though admittedly one could perhaps use a de-clicker but that still does harm to the track(s)).

I'd really like to see all the defenders in this thread give some real answers to why they think the beep thing is just fine? Seriously.. I know Jeroen is a really nice guy and he develops awesome plugins but that is not enough reason to start defending a crappy demo restriction, especially when there was no reason to add it there in the first place!

@Jeroen: Now that's more like it. Those demo restrictions are much better (at least on paper.. haven't tried the new demo yet). I still think a fully functional demo (that for instance adds the noise burst after it has been used for 3 days?) would be a better option, considering it is a mixing aid plugin that one has to mix with to form an opinion on it's merits.

Cheers!

See that's just it. "It took me about 2 minutes to make a decision"

You must be the fastest guy ever when it comes to mixing! Bravo. I applaud you. Well done.

A bunch of us cynical old farts that burst with anger (no we are not 10 year old girls, we are grumpy old men) would like to try the plugin first the way it was intended and see if it actually works as advertised.

This is precisely the problem with "fan-boyism". Instead of actually trying to understand the issue you simply dismiss it and apply your jedi-2-minute-mixing-mind-trick as your reason. Great..

It might come down to personal preference, with some having no issue with a beep but not caring for white noise, while others would rather have five minutes followed by having to restart the plug. I don't think it's accurate to suggest fanboyism in this regard. And I can't remember a reaction from you anything close to the one about this demo. I just assumed you were having a really bad day. :)

Hmm.. well if people who in this thread have been defending the beep as "no problem".. "it only takes 2 minutes to decide" and they all have bought the plugin already, then how am I supposed to interpret it? :)

Anyhow, you are right. It's not fair to blame it on anything, we all have different preferences of course, nothing wrong with that.

Oh.. I assure you, I'm not in the slightest in a bad mood or anything. Like I said, I'm extremely allergic to demo restrictions/copy protection if it contains a beep. If there are any demos with beeps that have a thread here on KvR that I've ignored then it's simply because I didn't find any interest at all in the plugin or I simply missed it. :)

Cheers!

I'm someone who hates the sound dropping out during demos. HATE it. I'll take a beep any day before that. Even white noise. But a drop out creates a "something's wrong" response in me that I can't get past. Ever. :hihi:

OK - enough chit chat. :D

bmanic - now that the demo beep has been dealt a quick death, could you please spend some more time with Isone Pro and let us know what you think? Again - your input is worth a lot to me and others around here. From one grumpy old man to another.

Hats off to the "I made up my mind in 2 minutes" folks, more power to you

And another thumbs up for the smart folks criticizing the criticism without trying the beepy version

God forbid it wasn't dropping the audio, this place would have been nuked already

well i made the purchase, we'll see how it goes..
i've gotten plenty of use out of barricade/barricade pro up until just recently -(when i went over to the dark side -t-racks group buy)
so that was a lot of value for the $10 or $20 that i paid back a year ago or whenever.
i found that isone works pretty well also for putting the guitar track in a song i was recording 'in a room' so to speak, might be interesting on vocals too. multitasking it!
