My track is up! :D

It a rather short and simple one using 7 instances of Felix as well as various Kjærhus Classic effects.
It has the rather odd title "Jan Lööf Would Be Proud" which deserves some explanation I think.
Jan Lööf is a Swedish cartoonist who did a series called "Felix" back in the 70s which I use to read as a kid. I doubt it was ever published outside Scandinavia though.

I have no idea if he would actually be proud of this though

We used to get loads of Scandavian magazines here in the UK but, strangely, they all featured naked women and you had to go to shops with darkened windows to buy them...

Tattie - The continuing tale of VST issues is sad to hear with Galileo. I'll vote for either Atlantis or Galactix as the emergency fill in - assuming of course that nobody is having any issues with them. Fine on my system anyway.

As to breathing life back into my 600Mhz old Dell - scary  Although my old 400Mhz laptop is now running quite happily with Puppy Linux. I don't think I could squeeze a VST project out of it though :-o

Cheers,
Mouxbar

Bloody hell mouxbar ... with gear like that taking up space, perhaps you should have a look around the local bins!! :hihi:

Its a real shame that technology leaves good stuff behind! Just read about the same issue on the Brambos' Tuareg thread.

I'm very much in the 'if it aint broke why fix it?' camp. I've spent more on Reaper and FL studio in the past couple of years than I've spent on my PC ... and I'm a happy bunny! ... I cant imagine the stress of getting a new OS, multicore PC, or even a mac for that matter if it means I have to invest additional time and expense just to regain the functionality I have now!!

... OK, you mention galactix ... another new one for me ... I'll check it out!

K-Bee ... cheers for the submission!! :tu:

mrblitz000 ... I hope the participants prize collection lives up to that huge expectation! :hihi: ... I'm not gonna promise you skybustin quality and innovation, but I can almost certainly guarantee you'll have a lot of fun! :)

OK, its Saturday ... the closing date for entries approaches! Always hard to calculate time left due to time differences, but I reckon there's between 2 and two and a half days to go.
Thanks to everyone who has entered so far ... already the best response to any of the comps I've been in charge of ... cant wait to listen to them all!! :)

OK, sorry to spread doom and gloom, but I've been playing around with Galactix for 5 minutes, and it aint good! The gui freezes, and it crashes FL8.

I wonder if my lovely £50 single core baby is a bit too modern for galactix

From what I managed to gather, it looks like a great candidate ... I downloaded v 1.4 ...

Mouxbar, is there a stable version you can recommend? provide a link? or do I maybe have to go raid the local bins for a machine which knows the old ways? :hihi:

That machine is already busy with mine Galileo, in case you don't know sir! :x

:hihi:

OK, it's official! I have cracked! I am doing the undo-able, and listening to the tracks before the voting thread is up! :-o

Wow!! Such range! Such variety! Such quality! :-o

I will review later, but for now .... just wow! :D

Just remember Italy is 100 years behind the rest of the world...

Post

.... and I bet within that country, there are areas behind that figure! :hihi:

I live in Aberdeen .... formerly the oil capital of Europe! ... but I can travel 30 miles and find rival communities still trying to eradicate each other by means of rumour, insult, and makeshift rudimentary weapons! :hihi:

We don't need to go to that trouble, our own government does that to us... all people need to do is to be left behind by the rest of the world, not a very easy task, but most everybody over here seems to be doing their very best and largely succeeding...
For example, "Why should I learn English, I don't care and we Italians can make ourselves understood pretty easily with sign language anyway, so why should I learn a different language?" Even the elementary concept that each country uses sign language differently is way beyond their grasp.
Oh well, every country has their own problems, I guess.

I Am Late!

Here is mine
(probably NOT a first place track, but i do ofcourse like the tune of it!)

It is called "The Midnight Hunt" but it sounds rather calm.
And... yeah, it should sound like that lofi thing.

2.46 long (which is longer than my last...jay!)
Used Cubase Studio 5 (what else?)
14 Instances of Felix
+ a little effect called outdorreverb.
Nothing else... just a little fade out at the end.

I had planned to add something else to this contest but after testing out some ideas (and nearly finishing them) i completely changed the tune of what i had in mind ^.-)

Hope you like it!

Mac, I kinda know! The main man in my ceilidh band is married to a lady from Lecce! He's over there now with her family! .... Which explains why I'm tapping the keyboard on a Saturday night instead of whacking shit out of my bouzouki along to his Accordione! :hihi:

We get the lowdown on Italian politics on a regular basis! ... Sometimes it's incredibly scary! ... other times, cos we dont have to live there, its just crazy ... and I admit I laugh!

Laughter is a very powerful defence mechanism! ... it might not stop you getting killed, but will make death less painful! :hihi: ... makes life less painful as well I suppose!

Very true; the problem, though, starts when you've run out of laughters, which over here is beginning to happen frighteningly often :(

But anyway.
I'm falling behind on the entries here, so I'd better answer some of the 5624653 emails that have been waiting for quite a while in my inbox so I'll have some tome tomorrow to listen to them

Post

Hey! At least you get lots of email! ... try living in China! :) ... or Antartica :hihi:

Actually, that's one of my main problems

I'd mentioned Galactix previously in the thread but also added that it had just had a bad review on 19 August regarding poor stability on a multicore.

As such, if you're having problems we're all doomed, doomed I tell ye. :hihi:

As per normal for my setup it does the exact opposite of everybody else and seems fine. As far as I can tell it's the same version bar an hours difference in the creation date. So maybe it's a touched by lucky pixie fairies version

Regardless, forget the suggestion if there is flakiness on show this quickly and I'll leave one hand sticking up for Atlantis which I've been playing with quite happily as well.

As a humble request, could you remind me of the synths that OSC has covered so far? I think I remember most and certainly the ones I've entered - just the first four required then :hihi:

I'm just suprised nothing has been mentioned about the Ugo synths so far...

Cheers,
Mouxbar
