The newer rip-off one or the original one distributed by Steinberg back then ?

Rip off ?
They wrote it ! Steinberg was only the distributer .
Also it was sold as separate products then for hundreds each now at less that a $100.

To the issue at hand
I'm not running Vista or even windows for that matter so I may be thinking out my @$$, but seams like people are having issues with the installer from the original disc ? Has anyone tried the the update/downloadable installer ?

maybe the same result ? just a thought :?:

If you haven't noticed I already provided a solution to the installation issue on the previous page:
bM3w wrote:Here's the solution, but you need to have a Windows XP product key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion]
"ProductID"="xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx"

1) Copy the above to an editor, replace the x's with your Windows XP product key and save it as WindowsXP.reg

2) Double click on the .reg file

3) Install Waldorf Edition and enjoy :)

Waldorf Editions installer - regardless of new or old, downloaded or from CD - does NOT work in an 64Bit environment UNLESS you follow the above steps. It's so dead easy and it works without harming your PC

Thanks alot, very useful tip.
Pdf'd for further reference.
Strange thing only, I managed to get them to work both in XP64 and Vista64, but I can't remember how I did back then.
Re the ripoff part, Waldorf were gone for a long time, when they reappeared they reissued the bundle, no technical changes, and expected existing customers to basically buy it again (well, 10€ less) to get future OS fixes and updates, that's what I call ripoff. I pay for updates all the time, but typically for major new versions, not for something I already paid for in the past.

Well, after they came back, they are, in fact, an entirely new company. I know the feeling, however, when the old waldorf went under, I thought I wouldn't be able to use Attack (which is one of my favourite VSTi:s) in the future, so, well, for me, it was a small price to pay for future support and upgrades. In fact, the whole bundle costs less than most upgrades anyway...

I just tried this with Windows 7 64bit and entered the 64bit key in the registry. Worked perfectly! Thanks a bunch. I wrote Waldorf one year ago
and they already said then, that they would update the installer.
Very bad customer service. They just want to sell their new products...

I'm having a similar problem, so I tried this on my 64 system and got the following message in a box labeled 'registry editor':

'Cannot import C:\ (followed directions from KVR). The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor'.

When I looked in the registry, I could get down as far as current version, and no further.

I created that key manually in the registry

I also had that same problem with PPG 2.V.

An email from Waldorf recommended I "purchased" the new Waldorf Edition!! How insulting! The procedure is soo simple yet they wanted to sell me something. I am very insulted.

I replied back to Waldorf and sending them the link from KVR in the other thread that showed me how to include my XP product key and they never replied back.

Not sure what to think of this. I know I would not use those kinds of tactics in my own personal business.

Unless Waldorf have updated the installer on newer discs without letting anyone know, you don't need an XP key. Using your Vista or (I assume) 7 key should work fine.

Make sure the first line in the reg file contains this - REGEDIT4
You should then be able to import the reg file.

I received an email saying that they have never said that they would update the PPG 2V to 64 bit. That this is wrong information. Regardless, it seems silly that a company would not make a simple modification to allow trhe software to evolve with time. It is a dissapointment. I dont know how they expect us to buy Largo or anything new when they make it very clear that they will leave us hanging in the future.
