I haven't had anything go wrong with Density Mk II yet (barely used it), but last week I opened up an old project that used a few instances of NastyVSD and NastyCS and ended up getting a crash when closing Sonar. While, Sonar is at least partially at fault, it's a big part of the reason I try not to use Bootsie's plugins: they tend to crash Sonar on project close.

Overall, Bootsie's plugins sound great and I very much respect and appreciate his work and contributions to the community (thanks Bootsie), but stability is just as important as sound quality IMO. And generosity, unfortunately, doesn't in and of itself make for a stable professional work environment. If Bootsie would go the C+ route for everything, I have a feeling a lot of these odd crashes would disappear (or at least be easier to troubleshoot). If that were to happen, I'd certainly be more than happy to pay for these plugins. Plus, it may mean Mac versions in the future. While I'm a PC guy, I do like to see Mac versions of the plugins I use/buy in case I ever do jump ship.

Anyway, none of this is meant to insult Bootsie. I really do love his work (particularly BootEQmkII), I just wish I could use these plugins more.

Bootsie, again, thank you for contributions to this community; it's admirable.

Works in Renoise on my machine too. Running 2.1 on a quad Phenom AMD core. Are you running the latest version?

Its the machine of a friend, we wanted to compare DensityII with Spectralive(?), he uses renoise, do think its the latest version but like I said its an old machine he uses and since someone here already confirmed there are SSE issues I guess that is the problem. I havent had problems with it myself yet on my quad, Fl8. Only TesslaPro has caused crashes sofar.

The same applies to some 'denormal' cpu spikes or anomalies in some configurations.
The Wavelab channel issue has been reproduced by several testers but there is currently no solution for that. Some crashes needs to be investigated further as well.
I'm very glad to hear this. The quality of your plugins makes the frustration at not being able to use them all the worse. Thanks for looking into it :)

Thank you so much for this wonderfull compressor plugin. Density mkII is totally my new #1 choice for ITB compression. In some tracks of mine I replaced the Waves SSL bus compressor with Density mkII and in all tracks it really improved the sound. Compared to the Waves SSL bus compressor, it sounded more detailed, more open, the stereo image whas better.. yeah, I love what it does on the mainbus! I also find use for it on instruments and vocals, it really is an amazing good sounding plugin, imho in the same league as the expensive alternatives.

I'm not saying it's going to replace all my compressor plugins, there is still room for my la2a, la3a and 1176 emulations, but for now, it's absolutely my #1 choice. If I had to chose only one compressor plugin, it would be Density mkII without a doubt!

:D
Music... life would be boring without it.

Is there a chance to get it working in Wavelab ?
Nonetheless: Great plugin, thanks very much.

Awesome compressor, I like it more than all my other comps. Sounds huge on everything. Thanks!

Nice one! I put it after a quick drum loop and it brought the hat up nice and even. This one is a keeper.

Bootsie, I've not played with this too much yet, but my brief attempts at some mastering yielded some great results... and crashes!

Density MkII seems to crash Sound Forge 8 very often, if I use it in a plugin chain, and switch between open WAV files (comparison, mastering situation, I'm sure you can imagine). A shame, because it's preventing me from using it for now. :(

(Oh shame, I'll just have to use Density instead, how deprived I am... ;))

hey bootsie just wanted to let you know the same CPU spike I get on my old P4 desktop I am getting on my brand new laptop which also runs windows xp and reaper. the plugin will load up with normal cpu usage and then after 10-15 seconds of use it quickly jumps up to 3-4x the normal cpu usage, which obviously renders it unusable.

i challenge anybody else running xp and reaper to load this plugin up and see if you get a cpu spike after twiddling a few knobs.

Pretty much loving this. Probably the first bootsie plugin that i will use on a regular basis. This just feels right. Thanks, bootsie!

Is 'Not working in Wavelab' also on your list ?
Error in Wavelab on loading: Number of Input channels don't match (maybe of the additional ext sidechain channels).
DensityI works great in Wavelab.

I do need some testers for this now, so if there are more Wavelab users out there please drop me a PM with your eMail and I will send you a version to test.

thanks for your support,
