Cantabile - subsession issue

Hi,

I'm using Cantabile 2.0 (terrific !). This soft is really amazing.

Unfortunately, sometimes, for unknown reasons, Cantabile is modifying subsessions, what makes me feel uncomfortable while playing.

Here is the way I use the soft :

I created a session list. For each entry (song), I've created a different session. Each session contains several subsessions enabling or disabling racks according to the patch I want to play depending on the song's structure.

Everything works fine, amazingly... except that sometimes, when I switch to the next subession(s), the settings loaded aren't the same I've been saving before. For example, when I'm using a session with :

- Mellotron Violins
- Hammond Organ
- Orchestra Strings

Subsession 1 : Mellotron only (Hammond Zzz, Strings Zzz)
Subsession 2 : Hammond + Mellotron (Strings Zzz)
Subsession 3 : Mellotron + Strings (Hammond Zzz)

When switching from Subsession 1 to subsession 2, sometimes I'm playing Mellotron + Strings instead of Mellotron + Hammond, or another surprising combination.

On this example, the problem is not so disturbing. But imagine what it can look like when you have a lead sound instead of a soft and sweet pad !

I firstly considered it was a mistake for me, so I paid attention to save each setting into a specific subsession file, each session into a specifif session file and verifying the session list was saved too.

But, sometimes, the issue strikes back :( I just would like to use it on stage next friday, but I'm really afraid this problem would happen while playing live ! :?

I'm running Cantabile with Windows Vista, 3go RAM, Recent Dual Core (cannot remember the model but whatever, the computer isn't old at all).

Any idea ? :help:

Hi.

I've occasionally recognized this behavior too.

Are you using subsession autosave mode or is that switched off?

Hi ! Thanks for the answer.

I just checked what you were talking about.

Indeed, autosave mode was activated. I just switched it off right now.

Do you think this can be the source of my problem ?

Well, that's the only setting that came to my mind were we users can influence subsession save behavior...

I am not sure but I guess there might be a delicate bug with this functionallity. I've already reported this to Topten in another circumstance but I wasn't able to reproduce a reason for that.

Just try to disable that setting and report if you notice that behavior again. I'm curious myself.

Be careful now when you change anything in a sub session - it will be lost if you switch to another one without manually saving it...

[Edit:] Subsession autosave seems to be saved individually with each session - so when turing it off one might have to save the session... maybe there is something happening when reloading a session with save subsession switched on?...
