Even your unpolished ones sound polished
Whats with the hiss at the start? is that on purpose?
It also becomes twice as loud suddenly ...hense the word unpolished?
The hiss in the start is from a field recording I used. It's the sound of the 6 train in NYC (not moving for most the part), as recorded by Oliver Chesler.
excelent choice of sounds. dreamy sphere.
love it a lot.

Can you tell us what you've used for that piercing lead traveling around in the stereospectrum?

Hug
Remmie
Thanks Remco, I appreciate your kind words

That lead sound comes from Loomer's Aspect synth. Most sounds in this track are from Aspect, as I was demoing it for a review. It's a great synth with a lot of character.

Yes, please do tell!

Good work.

Cheers,
Steve
Thank you Steve, for listening and commenting. Glad you liked it! As you can read above, the lead sound is from Aspect. I forgot to link to it in the previous comment so let me do that now: http://www.loomer.co.uk/aspect.htm

Very nice. Has very much a 'travelling' nature, especially the very first part.
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

The antithesis of the dynamics-less "loudness war." :hihi:

Great work, I love it--so calming and beautifully constructed. Thanks for sharing! :)

Cool that you got that Folderol, it was my idea of it to be a travel indeed!

dig the opening subdued melodic piece, then the drumline comes in and really opens it up, bit of a sylvain drum sound and groove.
nice the way you made the ambient part work with the next movement, kind of funky there, nice.
a cool trio of thoughts made to work together, enjoyed it.

Sir Ron the Smoovificent,
Wonderful wandering piece. If I were to try and be critical I felt the three movements were spaced too far apart with the middle a bit long for a pop song, but I wouldn't sign my name to that. Your sound is so very nice when you say this is an unfinished mix several many begin to gently weep. Thanks for sharing :)
..what goes around comes around..

The funky disco sound coming in at 5:50 sounds like what I want to achieve with my transitions, a seamless transfer that materially affects the overall sound of the song. Th percussion programming is nice, sounds realistic, human played. What samples did you use? Example of percussion I'm talking about is at 2:40

Thanks Wavephonic, glad you enjoyed it. It was supposed to feel a bit like a travel.

Don't be afraid to be critical
I would agree with you, but I didn't set out to do a pop song so it's all good :D
About the mix, it's unfinished because I didn't spend as much time on it as I would've liked to. There are many things that could be better, but perhaps it's not too bad as it is. I thought it was good enough to post anyway :hihi:

I thought the transition wouldn't hold if I didn't carry over the pad sound from the middle piece, I think it worked out OK. When I listen back now I think I could've done the volume increase of the funky part a little more graduate. Oh well.
I used DrumCore 3 for the drums in the middle part, drowned it in Ariesverb and some other effects.

Lovely stuff, core. A more assertive foreground than in a lot of your stuff, where most of the beautiful action happens in the background. Works really well, I think. A slight Plaid feel.
