Loved 4300-bridge-4305-4306-MrBlitz000.mp3 but wanted it to go for another five minutes! Too short.

Welcome to OSC land Rathead :)

Righteeho, I aim to launch the next comp on Sunday or Monday ... so theres a few days for any further comments/suggestions re. our next synth.
Hopefully that will give me time to sort out the prizes etc.

After the launch, I'll be hounding all participants to upload WAV versions of their felix tracks to ...
http://www.4shared.com/dir/19650132/31c ... Album.html

...and further hounding you all for your Felix presets. Post them here.

.... but if you want to do it sooner, then I wont have to hound you! :hihi:

Ahem ... bump before bedtime .... since we only have one more day to vote :)

Can't wait till the next challenge starts (has it started?)

Cheers tattiemannie!

I really enjoyed all of the OSC7 tunes and I take my hat off to all the entrants.

I hope to participate myself one day but, gee, you guys set the bar pretty high!

Maybe I'll get excited when I see the synth you choose for the next one...

Rathead, thanks!

I'm just doing a bunch of snippets to fit between each of the songs on an album project. Thus the 'bridge' in the title; this one being the bridge between the 5th and 6th song within a collection of songs.

Anyway, this contest is at once great fun and inspiration.

I'm looking forward to 'hearing' which synth we're going to employ this month.

I would put in a word for some of the lesser-known synths like maybe Basic 64 (love this one from de La Mancha), or a "60s/70s emulation" such as Dr. Phibes, Morphiza, or Polyvoks Station; or maybe something 'way out' like Vurtbox. Whatever it is, it's going to be a great contest!

Oh, there was a suggestion to put this contest into the Music Cafe forum, in order to gain more interest. That might actually help the OSC gain more participation and votes.

There was also some discussion about voting. If i'm not mistaken, it looked like one of this month's OSC voters awarded something like 8, 10, and 12 imaginary points to three of this month's entries. Maybe that's what we could do, to allow voting for more than one piece; yet not copy the monthly song contest's top 10 system verbatim.

For instance, we could award each voter 20 or 30 points, and let them spread the points around amongst the entries, however they like. Of course, this would involve more bookkeeping than the single-vote system.

As it is, the single-vote thing of the OSC has its appeal; again mainly in contrast with the way the song contest works.

Sorry I've been busy with this and that ... not least 'witnessing' Scotland getting knocked out of the world cup :( .... just a quick bump in the hope theres still time to vote and break up that leading pack :)

I feel that a synth with an audio input should be used for the next OSC. I liked the looks of that atlantis thingy.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

OK, the voting period is surely over??? .... unless someone can tell me otherwise?

Oh well, unless there is a possibility of a late vote, we have a 3 way tie for 1st, and a 4 way tie remaining runners up prizes!

By my own recommendations written in a previous thread, 19 entries translates to Winner plus 5 runners up.

I have also suggested earlier, and had this backed up, that I think we should respect donators generosity, and ensure that an offer of 'a' prize is not assumed to be any multiple thereof!
So we need to sort out a first, second, third, fourth etc.

Rather than have two sets of tiebreak scenarios, I am taking myself out of the picture for the simple reason that there is only one prize I can use .... and I won it last time round :hihi:

So, assuming the vote, as it stands, is final, ... we need to sort out IIRs and Yeager for 1st and 2nd, and then Marcusz, Mouxbar and Ah Dziz for 3rd, 4th and 5th. Note, I've taken Yeager out of the picture there because, like myself, he has already won prizes, and therefore will already have what will be on offer as a runners up prize.

Here is my suggestion for sorting!
we havent heard from Kriminal for a while .... if he has not voted, then I think he should call the tiebreak between IIRs and Yeager.

And the runners up? well, all we are deciding is an order in which they choose an available prize ... its all down to luck in the end, so why not let luck decide?
I have built a 5 x dice rolling device .... very much for the purpose of randomised decision making :hihi: .... so I can sort that out if we feel that is an appropriate way, and if there's any prob with the Yeager/IIRs tiebreak, then I can sort that one out the same way! :)

Post

That was quite a difficult decision. I voted for Banagarang by Ah Dziz in the end. Sorry I haven't had time to write reviews, but excellent work from everyone. And thanks for the votes!

:help:

:hihi:

Maybe you could make things easier by disqualifying me for using too many effects? :P I didn't expect to win anything, so no worries either way!

...... oh, and if anyone wants a copy of my '5dice' ... click on the 4shared link below :)

IIRs, I dont think making things easier is a good reason to disqualify anyone ... As far as I can see, you didn't break any rules .... I trust that all fx are freeware ... but if anyone tells me otherwise, then you're out! :hihi:

Yeah, all freeware. Apart from Reaktor and Omnisphere of course.

That's a joke btw. Check the project file if you like. ;)
