..that analog is noisy, because that's how I spotted them
Ya, that's part of the sloppyness. Next time I'll render it out through some gear on bypass and back in.
You can always try to add noise in frequency modulation. I use to do that in my Vaz modular software, to get that extra analouge feeling in the sound. The sound becomes more noisy, but also more unstable.
Here's an example of that. Fisrt only one osc, in the second half there are two.

That sounds good too. "Noise" is relative- one-take acoustic stuff in real rooms, not those stupid dead studios, now that's noisy.

Vaz Modular with two oscillators and it's ladder filter at 24 dB with high resonance: www.kiresounds.se/downloads/5.wav

More filtering with high resonance: www.kiresounds.se/downloads/css.wav

Fitersetting changed to 12 dB and suddenly some nice Oberheim tones: www.kiresounds.se/downloads/oob.wav

I've got some good digilog, and analtal samples, if anyone wants to guess the right ones.

Isn't that an ointment?

yes, for irratating hemroidal tissue. Those are the squeeky sounding samples i got.
Put em through some effects, and they sound almost digilog, which would be the nasal squeeking variety. I can tell them apart though, with exact precision.

a proof that software also can get out of tune ;)

Playing around with a triangel osc in Vaz www.kiresounds.se/downloads/intune.wav

...and suddenly www.kiresounds.se/downloads/notintune.wav :-o

im not really interested in an analogue versus digital argument, but i do have to interject here to say ive alwways enjoyed your vaz patches and would like to thank you for them :)

Thank you!

I'm glad you like them! :)

Champagne flutes.

Yeah...I can see the thread has taken that fatal turn toward irrelevancy vis-a-vis the topic. Goodbye thread. :hihi:

Yeah i drilled a few more holes in my FLUTE last night to get some more polyphony out of it :hihi: :hihi:

It's now a top of the range air machine and it don't sound analog or digital..it sounds better

that there is a difference between analog and digital sound and that people have a a hard time spotting it , but still are able to.
If that is the case, then the no-difference doctrine and big-difference-doctrine are falsified (but is that not a kind of...boring conclusion? I mean, who believe in these extremes now a day?).

With the big difference down that means the analog magic doctrine as well, one should think, UNLESS you would go for the argument that it is all due to wave conversion that the analog magic disappears. But if that is the case, then analog magic is restricted to live and studio use (which is kind of shit for all distributional purposes unless you can afford vinyl, I suppose). Now, who is going to provide an experiment that can falsify this hypothesis?

BTW: How are we going to control whether people cheated? One says that he spotted the noise. We might need a re-test with new subjects!

i just threw a coin ten times. i wanted heads to win. i ended up with 7 heads and 3 tails. so i am one of the people who can predict "heads or tails", not always, but most of the time.

Try 10 x 100 times more and see if you can make it

If you do, you are there. If you don't, it is because you made a mistake (your throws were not equally balanced or something..).

got any proof of this at all??????

Deadmau5 maybe, but your wrong on Prydz, its been said in interviews and from comments from people who work with him that he doesnt use hardware.

That stuff really annoys me. Dont make out to people that if they want to make tracks like Deadmau5 and Prydz that need to use hardware!!! Im sorry if thats what youve been led to believe but i think you may have fallen for the marketing/hype

Just because you cant get that sound with software doesnt mean other people cant.....
I wouldn't believe a word in any of those interviews. Maybe the production is all ITB. But then it's mixed and mastered someplace else etc. Or it's BS alltogether. You see, that's part of the artist's marketing, to make every kid out there believe they can get the same sound with just their laptop, too.
Sweden is littered with studios full of high quality gear, and these guys have the money for it. The mixes really bear most of the hallmarks of quality outboard and even console mixing.

I actually believe that Cosma's "Simplicity" was made totally ITB from the sound. And that's great music. Far more inventive than any of those current "progressive" electronic musicians, which mostly rely on the sound.
