maybe I should ask Guido if he would offer a pickup bleed upgrade for the next version (feeding it from other tracks sidechained) - THIS would be thee absolute convincing Clav emulation

I'd also like pitch bend support, see how George Duke uses it

Hey... if somebody doesn't want to use the best B3 software emulation available, that's there problem...DragonSagoth wrote:Also how come you're about the very few (if only) here that say VB3 is "not right"? That's an awful minority

Your just saying that because it's like 1/5 the Price of B4-II aren't you? You probably have never even used B4-II I'm guessing? Besides what does VB3 have to do with the thread topic of Clavinets? VB3 is Great though.DragonSagoth wrote:Also, VB3 kicks the balls of NI B4-II.
Real hard.

I've used both and VB3 is much better. Have you used VB3?BFunKu wrote: Your just saying that because it's like 1/5 the Price of B4-II. You probably never even used B4-II I'm guessing?
And you're right, it does have nothing to do with clavinets, but seeing as there's only a few options, we need to talk about something to keep this thread going

Actually I've tried every Hammond B3 emulation there is. And to be honest none of them sound as good as my B3. I wish I never sold that thing. But out of all the ones I've tried NI B4-II sounds the most authentic in my opinion. VB3 is a Great organ emulation though it doesn't really sound as much like a B3 as B4-II. VB3 does have the Best Leslie-Speaker emulation though. I own them both as well as LinPlug Organ 3. I'm quite the Organ Fiend. I love them all really.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:I've used both and VB3 is much better. Have you used VB3?BFunKu wrote: Your just saying that because it's like 1/5 the Price of B4-II. I installed Ticky again and actually found it better than I remembered.jens wrote:Topaz Clav sounds very similar to the available free soundfonts, since it uses samples...
Ticky Clav can sound enormously funky - I think here the secret is in the envelope - Tick just got it right... but at the same time it tends to sound a bit cheesy, which is why I put distortion (usually an amp-sim, as has already been suggested - Annti's Saro is great here) after it, but also (before the amp-sim) some modulation, usually a phaser - and there is no funkier phaser-plugin than Annti's Phase90 - and then finally I compress it all properly...
It's possible that Ticky's envelopes are closer to the real thing. On the other hand, the timbre is quite awful. I still prefer Topaz or other samples in that regard.
Amp sims help to get a more pleasant sound but the more effects you add you also get farther away from the raw clavinet sound.
Here are some tests for comparison. I slightly tweaked both plugs to my taste. The last clips have the same FX chain: auto wah (xhip filter) -> amp sim (SA Rednef Twin).

I HAVE used both VB3, and NI B4-II, and have played a C3+122 combo. I know what I'm talking about very wellBFunKu wrote:Your just saying that because it's like 1/5 the Price of B4-II aren't you? Real hard.![]()
And yeah, both price and the state of the plugin (discontinued or not) are very good factors in setting my decision.
But of course, the SOUND comes first, and VB3... is simply the best.

C3 and B3 are much the same, the difference is purely cosmetic! You can't sway me with that

Similar yes, but their not 100% identical. The differences are just a little bit more than just cosmetic as well. I think you know that.

The differences between B3's and C3's are no more substantial than the differences between individual B3's.BFunKu wrote:Similar yes, but their not 100% identical. The differences are just a little bit more than just cosmetic as well. I think you know that.![]()
The most significant difference is probably that the heavier and more wooded cabinet changes the room acoustics compared to a B3. If you claim to be able to hear *that* I won't argue with you (I'll just back away slowly, grab a cocktail, and start talking to females about something besides music gear.)

The only difference is that the C3 is more likely to have been blessed by a priest at some point, and the B3 is more likely to have been dropped.
You made the claim twice. Why don't you tell us the difference between same-year B3's and C3's. I'll get Al Goff to give an opinion on whatever you come up with.
