Hi, does anyone know of some good resources that discuss how math is used in music?

I'm looking for a mathematical approach to song analysis, chord patterns, wave forms, frequencies, tuning, rhythm, etc.

I doubt there's a single book to cover them all.

Check these:

Horns, Strings and Harmony - Arthur H. Benade

Music, Physics and Engineering - Harry F. Olson

It fills me with dread to think about this book, because it was part of a 20th century analysis course that I almost failed, but it's a very interesting approach:

Set theory used to represent music that might otherwise be impossible to describe. Not for the faint of heart.

A lot of the work in acoustical physics might not be simple to find in searches for books, since so much of the publication is in the form of journal articles. I'd be checking the stacks at my local university's engineering library, and trying to find things referenced from there.

You can easily start reading a DSP textbook and never come out the other side.
Swing is the difference between a drum machine and a sex machine.

You could do worse than "Music: A mathematical offering" - http://www.maths.abdn.ac.uk/~bensondj/html/music.pdf
