antto wrote: here, i made another demo, with the new waveforms (this time it's a lot closer to the original, i like it)
rendered at 44100Hz, no FX used, the drums come from Drumatic
Which Drumatic is that? 1, 2, 3, or VE?
Swing is the difference between a drum machine and a sex machine.

the beta, and this new beta2 versions might play the same patterns differently (due to the changes in the sequencer)
Unless I'm brain-dead today, the situation is even worse than that: that .zip is chock-full of '.nsp' files, and the 'load' function pops up a dialog looking for '.nsm' files, so it can't see any of them.

if it's looking for NSM files, then you've pressed the LOAD/SAVE Memory file
these are the two lower buttons
Load Pattern is the top-left button there ;]

mistertoast: erm, wait a minute.. Drumatic 3 ;]
It doesn't matter how it sounds..
..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD!

I'll try again tomorrow after I find my magnifying glass: these old eyes just aren't up to it now. :o

Yes that gui is a beautiful one, and i not want better and larger, more nicer than other synthedit creations... and i tested the soundengine and i think when its finished this 303 clone is the winner in the digital recreations form.

but one thing is need to make better: the switches is need too much horizontal moving to become work. this is a little thing only. the rotating knobs worx like a charm.8)

I'll wait for a more stable release and stick with the original beta for now but thanks for the update, looking forward to more.

The demo track's acid sounds seem to have a weird high frequency content thats too digital sounding in some places, I can't put my finger on it.. is it just my tired ears, or does anyone else hear it?
noise and beats: Negutyv Xeiro do people actually click these?
gearlust: Roland JP-8000, too much/not enough eurorack
machinecode by: u-he, Bitwig, Fabfilter, NI, et al

the new filter, and the new more-accurate envelopes.. the filter cutoff jump up to ~28KHz normaly (this is how the real TB-303 behaves) .. but at 44100Hz sampling rate, it is restricted to 22050Hz (because of the Nyquist rule..)
sound is better at 88200Hz sampling rate
btw, if you have switched to the moog filter (36) it has more resonance, and at high cutoffs it becomes noise-like (which get's fixed with higher sampling rate)
i don't really think it sounds digital anymore ;]

EDIT: please, someone with a non-multi-core processor, tell me what is the CPU Usage of this release, compared to the first beta version, i think my CPU meters are wrong (Core2 Duo)

Hi Antto

ACER Laptop: Travelmate 2300
Intel Celeron (M)
1.5 GHz
2GB RAM

HOST: Ableton Live 8.0.5

Product Detected Intel® 852GM/855GM
Current Driver Installed 6.14.10.4497
Your driver is current.

Windows XP/SP3

(a) I don't have Beta 1

(b) VenomVB-303_beta2.zip: Loaded and idle. Jumps from 51% CPU and steadies out at between 16-17% (fluctuating)!

(c) I have no idea how it is supposed to operate but I can't seem to get any sound out of it no matter what I do!

(d) I'll leave it installed for a while if you'd like me to try somehing else later on. Bit busy now! Please note that the CPU values are from Ableton!

beta1 is on the first page of this thread (use the box.net link)
to get "any" sound, first hold down any note (to trigger the synth) and press the little Randomize button on the sequencer (or the Clear button, which is right above it)
it probably jumps because of denormals somewhere
not sure..

I hear it.

Also, I think I mentioned this before:

Set full res, full decay and full env. amt., full frequency and you'll start to hear some digital noise (this is the first beta, haven't tried the latest one)

Thanks for keeping this alive, antto!

oh, forget what the beta sounds like, i had huge, huge bugs in the filter and distortion oversampling code there, this is why the filter doesn't sound like a 24dB there, and it sounds bad anyway

now these new filters here (the 18, and the 36, which are actually a 4pole 303-ladder, and a 4pole moog-ladder) they are sounding beautiful, just try them at a higher rate (say, 88200, where they are not restricted)
i can actually push the moog to full overdrive (where it is beyond self-oscillation, but the linearities keep it from exploding) it sounds very nice, i will add this functionality in the next release.. (the More-Reso knob/switch)

my DAW supports maximum sampling rate of 192KHz
i tested the whole synth if it sounds/behaves the same at that rate.. it does, and it sounds wonderful (well, you know.. CPU usage is nightmare)
