So what has been decided for the voting system? I'm about to listen the submissions and I would like to know... One vote? A "top ten" like in the Monthly Contest?? What?

Good call re the voting MaxSynths .... we have a lot of entries, so I reckon we need to go with a system other than a single vote per person.

I'll go have a look at the previous discussion on this issue and look for a suitable method ....but I'm fairly sure that.....

I think the monthly contest vote system is ok, easy, quick and... the only possible solution :hihi: (the only problem is we need someone which is good enough with math because in my score something was missing :x)

Anyway, to get an agreed system up and running, here's my proposal ..... open to discussion......... :)

*** You have a maximum 10 votes to allocate. You can split those 10 votes between 2 and 10 entries as you see fit, but no more than 5 to any track.

So if there are two stand outs, you can give them 5 each if you want. Otherwise you might want to give 5 to your fave, 3 to your second fave, and 1 each to two other tracks..... or you could go 4,3,2,1, or 5,2,1,1,1, or whatever you like!

You dont have to use the whole 10, but you have to give all your votes at the same time in one post.

I will amend the original post, keeping the totals up to date as the votes come in. ***

Yes it's another solution but from a statistical point of view I think it's a limited version of the monthly contest system :hihi:

...because you are in some way limiting the choises... Let's say you have 10 favourites: you are limited to spread your "credits" in a 52111 or similar way... Maybe more "virtual credits"? Don't know :shrug:

It seems the MC system is not a top ten... It's something like a "reverse top ten".

For example you give

1 vote to Pippo
2 votes to John
3 votes...

and so on. Then the votes are summed. So it's very similar to your suggestion, but in this way there are less chances to have more finalists (which is one of the problems here). What do you think?

Why don't we use the Eurosong Contest's system? It's worked there for decades :)
You have the following points to assign:

(no 11 points, that's intentional) You have to assign all these fixed votes.
It works pretty well :). It also allows for last second twists, and unless a track really stands out, keeps things iffy to the end. Those of you who have seen the Constest know how nicely it works :)

:tu: You know this month I submitted a song to the monthly contest and I never realized the counting works like this... so I've sent a PM to thank the kind soul which gave me a 1 :lol:

Anyway I think I'm not the only one which has been fooled by the "reverse top ten"... Other people said thanks for the n.1 vote :hihi: So the problem here is that must be clear for both the partecipants and those that decide to vote how things work! For example I've voted the wrong way in the MC :hihi: But I'm sure a lot of people do the same because there are no instructions about voting.

That's why I think it's important to call them clearly and repeatedly "points" - that will avoid problems.

Like, "1 point goes to France, 2 points go to Italy, 3 points go to Germany, etc" - just like the Eurosong Contest :)
