Hi Squids,
Any idea what price the DM2 paid upgrade for current Drum Masters users is likely to be? I had been considering getting Silver (maybe Gold?) soon and see that this option will soon go with the switch to this approach.
Thx
Don

also, forgive me for being thick, but i got in on the infinite player/drum masters GB, is their any upgrade path from this to DM2? i love the samples i have now and more more more sounds good!

also a chart with the differences between DM Gold and the new product would be cool :) (as if you don't have enough work to do)

I am not sure what the upgrade price will be. The price in the first place luckily is really low as you can see.

I will have a listing of what is included in Drum Masters 2 soon and we'll also do a chart comparison to Silver and Gold. Much of Silver is included with Drum Masters 2. A majority of Gold is NOT included in Drum Masters 2.

We are going to be continuing with the Platinum for a limited time though and there will be a DM 1 Platinum to DM2 Platinum upgrade that will be very attractive. Now, remember the patch updates for previous DM2 users are FREE! New features as I described (advanced round robin, groove menus, built-in effects, new patches - ALL free for existing users!). So, no worries there. But I am sure a lot of you want the new SAMPLES and of course those are not free. There will be very reasonably priced upgrades to get them.

It's going well although taking longer because of the complexity under the hood/simplicity for the user. It's totally worth it, things like making alternates for each articulation but... a daunting task! The other thing is we have Epik Drums (A Ken Scott Collection) happening at the same time with Ken coming out here to do the final mixes next week so they are overlapping big time. At this point I am not sure which will be released first. Drum Masters 2 was supposed to be but Epik Drums is neck and neck. They're both related though, just different sonic flavors and drummers (well a bit more specific things with Ken's collection of course and much larger sized instruments as well - may or may not be available as download for example).

So, soon! But we should have that beta version of the JB Sonor kit I mentioned soon for people to check out. It should be this week but I have Phil Collins' son Simon in the SR Studio and we had Keyboard Magazine in the studio just before that so I have been wrapped up in that and haven't finalized those JB kits yet. I will this week though.

Thanks for reply !

But please, consider the download option for Epik Drums.

Here, in Brazil, i would have to pay two or three times more for a boxed version. And certainly, as you know, many others costumers around the globe would have too. I know there are difficulties with the servers and stuff, but...

Think about it. ;)

Best !

Epik Drums is over 100 Gigabytes. That'd be a hefty download! ;)

That is indeed, an epic download.

Squids,

Are you going to be sending out an email with updates for us Drum Masters V 1.0 customers? I just want to make sure I don't miss the chance to take advantage of the special upgrade pricing.

Additionally, I'd also love to be informed (i.e., sent email updates) about anything you're doing with Ken (like you, I'm a big fan of this work and a Beatles nut -- consequently, I'm very interested).

Yes, we will be informing Drum Masters 1.0 users of availability. DM2 still hasn't even been officially announced yet. You guys just get advanced info for participating in our company forum here. For people that bought Drum Masters from eSoundz I believe the updates will automatically show in their user area when available but I am not 100% sure on that. Either way, the patch updates to existing kits/grooves you have will be FREE (nice!). A lot of "e-Drummer" features added thanks to guys like you and people I've talked to on the V-Drums forum.

EpiK DrumS A Ken Scott Collection is different from the main Drum Masters 2 in that it is completely different material, different drummers and different engineer/producer (Ken Scott). Although the basic features of multitrack kits and grooves are the same and compatible with each other. EpiK is larger and more detailed but also more taxing on your computer's resources (and each kit is so large it takes about 5 minutes to load). So, it's a trade off there but sound-wise it brings you some other flavors that are VERY authentic for what we were going for which is 70's rock, jazz, fusion, new wave etc. drum sounds from the albums Ken recorded with those drummers. Very diverse and unique! Nothing like it. But EpiK is part of the Drum Masters series still and has the same mapping features, uses the same output multis so you can swap kit pieces between EpiK DrumS A Ken Scott Collection and the main Multitrack Drum Masters 2 as well as the upcoming Neil Peart kit and more.

In short, this is for people who want to collect great drum sounds. They ALL use the "Infinite Player" which is Sonic Reality's licensed expandable Kontakt Player (from NI). So it is more about the CONTENT that you want than it is "this plug-in vs. that plug-in". It's all the same engine but the sounds are different sonically but feature-wise carrying on a very advanced new range of options for keyboard and e-drum playing.

Also, drum replacement options are coming too... probably as a free or inexpensive add on.

The OWD Silver and Gold downloads currently download each kit with any common cymbals they may have so once it is installed it is about 30 gigabytes. It's not ideal but it utilizes the individual kits a la carte. We were surprised how popular the OWD Silver (and Gold) downloadable products actually ended up being and are working on a separate split up download (because it has to be split up into 2gb zips) for Silver and Gold so it doesn't take as long. But anyway the library installer that comes with it knows how to arrange the material so it is right in the end either way. Just more of a download convenience thing we're working on.

Anyway, OWD Platinum is 80 gigs for the 96k version. But, EpiK is 100 gigs for the 48k version (a 96k version of EpiK which may come later if computers can handle it would be over 200 gigs - so no plans to release any time soon!!!! But we did also sample it at 96).
